Our prompt: An Alternative Love Song from your 50’s (if you are younger, choose your own)
I don’t know if this is mainly an alternative band, but this song was labeled as such. And, I like most all their songs, including this one. It also falls into the right time frame for the prompt.
The only difference is To let love replace all our hate
From Wiki:
“Higher” is a song by American rock band Creed. It was released on August 31, 1999, as the lead single from their second studio album, Human Clay. The song became the bands breakthrough hit as it was their first song to reach the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at number seven in July 2000. It spent a total of 57 weeks upon the survey, the longest stay for any Creed song on the Hot 100. “Higher” also became the band’s second chart-topping hit on rock radio as it topped both the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, for a then-record of 17 weeks.

When dreaming I’m guided to another world Time and time again At sunrise I fight to stay asleep ‘Cause I don’t wanna leave the comfort of this place ‘Cause there’s a hunger, a longing to escape From the life I live when I’m awake So let’s go there Let’s make our escape Come on, let’s go there Let’s ask can we stay?
Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets
Although I would like our world to change It helps me to appreciate Those nights and those dreams But, my friend, I’d sacrifice all those nights If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same The only difference is To let love replace all our hate So let’s go there Let’s make our escape Come on, let’s go there Let’s ask can we stay?
Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets
So let’s go there Yeah, let’s go there Come on, let’s go there Let’s ask can we stay?
Up high I feel like I’m alive for the very first time Set up high I’m strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine
Set up high I’m strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine
Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets
Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets
Today we get our choice of songs to post. Here’s a good one I’ve always liked.

A Love Song that includes a commitment or a promise. Thanks, Jim, for this challenging prompt. Please, check out his blog, “A Unique Title For Me

❤️❤️
Here’s a song I’ve always liked, which includes a promise that a guy made to his sweetheart. But seems something must have gone wrong, because he’s saying he’ll always remember her, like she’s gone away or something.
I didn’t see a reference to the meaning of this song, so that’s my opinion only.

We’ve had our share of hard times
But that’s the price we paid
And through it all we kept the promise that we made
I swear you’ll never be lonely
“I Remember You”, a single from the album, “Skid Row”, was released in 1989, on the Atlantic label. It was written by Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo.

Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
The wind would whisper and I’d think of you
And all the tears you cried, that called my name
And when you needed me I came through
I paint a picture of the days gone by
When love went blind and you would make me see
I’d stare a lifetime into your eyes
So that I knew you were there for me
Time after time you were there for me
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
We spend the summer with the top rolled down
Wished ever after would be like this
You said I love you babe, without a sound
I said I’d give my life for just one kiss
I’d live for your smile and die for your kiss
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
We’ve had our share of hard times
But that’s the price we paid
And through it all we kept the promise that we made
I swear you’ll never be lonely
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
Washed away a dream of you
But nothing else could ever take you away
‘Cause you’ll always be my dream come true
Oh my darling, I love you
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
Battistelli explained the song’s meaning: “The idea behind this song is that I want to be a vessel for God, I want to be an open book, and I want my life to be available to Him for any turn that He wants it to take, and write any story that He wants to write.”
The prompt for today is a love song for the flora and fauna.
❤️❤️
A song that is sad and meaningful, yet leaves a message of what could and has happened when we don’t take care of our planet with it’s air, water, animals, and plants.
From a Wiki article:
“Seminole Wind”, by John Anderson was released from his album of the same name in 1992, It was written by John Anderson, and is on the BNA label
***
In Seminole Wind, John Anderson sings about how the Seminole group of Native Americans had to watch immigrants drain the Florida Everglades in search of gold and silver. After the immigrants dug up the natural resources, the land was left bare.
The song talks about the destructiveness of draining the earth because of economic development.
***
Ever since the days of old Men would search for wealth untold They’d dig for silver and for gold And leave the empty holes
And way down south in the Everglades Where the black water rolls and the sawgrass waves The eagles fly and the otters play In the land of the Seminole
So blow, blow Seminole wind Blow like you’re never gonna blow again I’m calling to you like a long-lost friend But I know who you are And blow, blow from the Okeechobee All the way up to Micanopy Blow across the home of the Seminole The alligator and the gar
Progress came and took its toll And in the name of flood control They made their plans and they drained the land Now the Glades are goin’ dry
And the last time I walked in the swamp I stood up on a Cypress stump I listened close and I heard the ghost Of Osceola cry
So blow, blow Seminole wind Blow like you’re never gonna blow again I’m calling to you like a long-lost friend But I know who you are And blow, blow from the Okeechobee All the way up to Micanopy Blow across the home of the Seminole The alligator and the gar

Being from Lubbock, TX, the hometown of the late, great Buddy Holly, I chose this song from him. I do love all his songs. We have lots of reminders of his life and legacy here, including a museum center, street named after him and his band, murals, and a statue at the walk of fame here, a large concert venue named after him, and also his grave site.

On April 29, 2011, Mrs. Holly unveiled the never-before-seen “True Love Ways” photo of their wedding kiss, now displayed at P.J. Clarke’s above Table 53, the table where they became engaged while on their first date, on June 20, 1958.[9]

Just you know why
Why you and I
Will bye and bye
Know true love ways
Sometimes we’ll sigh
Sometimes we’ll cry
And we’ll know why
Just you and I
Know true love ways
Throughout the days
Our true love ways
Will bring us joys to share
With those who really care
Sometimes we’ll sigh
Sometimes we’ll cry
And we’ll know why
Just you and I
Know true love ways
Throughout the days
Our true love ways
Will bring us joys to share
With those who really care
Sometimes we’ll sigh
Sometimes we’ll cry
And we’ll know why
Just you and I
Know true love ways

❤ ❤
This is a song that was not when I was in my 40s, but it is a love song, done Reggae style. It has been covered many times by many different artists over the years. Still is a great song.
A Love Song about finding love in an unexpected place. Thanks, Jim, for this (and many other) brilliant prompts. Please, check out his blog, “A Unique Title For Me.“

I had to look around for lists of songs that might work for this prompt. I did come across this one, which I’d never heard before, but I like it a lot.
Before she starts singing the actual song, she does a short, funny monologue about the song. 🙂

I have never felt like this
For once I’m lost for words
Your smile has really thrown me
This is not like me at all
I never thought I’d know
The kind of love you’ve shown meNow, no matter where I am
No matter what I do
I see your face appearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing
I don’t know what is going on
Can’t work it out at all
Whatever made you choose me
I just can’t believe my eyes
You look at me as though
You couldn’t bear to lose me
Now, no matter where I am
No matter what I do
I see your face appearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing
I have never felt like this
For once I’m lost for words
Your smile has really thrown me
This is not like me at all
I never thought I’d know
The kind of love you’ve shown me
Now, no matter where I am
No matter what I do

Now young Mister Moon flew away in the night With his best friend Magnus right by his side They soared through the Milky Way, counting the stars Once around Venus, twice around Mars
Then they spied an island rise out of the sea They fell back to Earth just as free as you please The children all gathered, the church bells did ring Suddenly, everyone started to sing
Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde
Queen of the island she welcomed them in Asking ’em questions of where they had been She offered ’em chocolate, she offered them tea They all took their seats in the top of a tree
And racoons brought wine and the mice they brought cheese Beautiful birds floated by on the breeze From out in the oceans the dolphins began Humming a tune that soon covered the land
Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde
So young Princess Leia brought coral and pearls Gifts to the travelers from some other world The Bushdoctor mixed up a magical spell Swore them to secrecy never to tell
So young Mister Moon flew away in the night With his best friend Magnus still right by his side The sun was just rising, they’d be home by noon Humming the words to this magical tune
Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde Chanson pour les petits enfants Chanson pour tout le monde
