Here’s looking down at an airplane that is waiting at the gate, from a window.

A World War II glider plane, seen in the Silent Wings museum here in town.

An escalator at the DFW airport.

Blue sky, white clouds and airplane wing as I saw from the airplane window.

An airplane seen flying above where I was standing.

Night lights over Dallas TX, taken from plane, as we were coming into DFW airport
Airplane below, taken from a window. It has the passenger ramp hooked up to the door.

Symbol on airplane door. Just before entering I noticed on the silver side panel a large blue circle with the words ‘oneworld’. This struck me as very strange. Above that is a smaller sign of a small airplane inside parenthesis and says WI-FI.
Back behind the seat in front of me on an airplane. It’s where the tray table is, and also says, ‘fasten seat belt while seated’

Here’s a couple of things I kept – my ticket to Paris, an Air France towelette, and a fancy airline menu.

Helicopter!

This is a helicopter that was flying over the house one day. I like seeing them, and we do from time to time. I can always tell by the sound of them if it is a helicopter or an airplane. I think they are pretty neat.

I’ve only had one ride on a helicopter before, a long time ago. It was probably back in 1972 or 1973, when I was back in the country coming from our living in Germany. We landed at one airport in NYC and had to be transferred to the other one for our next flight back to Texas. One was La Guardia and the other was JFK. We got to see a few sights on the short trip, like the Statue of Liberty, and all the tall buildings.
I don’t know if they still shuttle people by helicopter these days, but I was glad I got to ride in the helicopter that day.
Here’s a couple of things from my scrapbook:
The ticket from my helicopter ride between airports, and a postcard picture of the helicopter “New York Airways”.

I am curious why you thought the OneWorld sign was strange. That’s an Airline Alliance that includes American Airlines and 12 other airlines. It looks like you were flying American in that picture.

Thanks, Thomas! I didn’t know about that Airline Alliance, so thanks for the information on it. I just didn’t like the sound of oneworld – as in having always heard that in the end of days the whole world will be under one government – and to me that is scary. So I didn’t like seeing it on the airplane.

That did not occur to me, but American Airlines, the biggest airline in the OneWorld Alliance is pretty dominant, at least here in the US. Their main hub is Dallas where I live. I should say that one good thing with OneWorld is that you can, for example, fly with Finnish Airline and the mileage is automatically transferred to your American Airlines account and vice versa. Also if there is a big delay or cancellation you can easily get transferred to another OneWorld Alliance airline.
