Ready to write?Today’s a great day to blog, and the Bloganuary prompt is: What language do you wish you could speak? |
***
I took a couple years of French when I was in high school. I don’t remember but a few words of it now. Nobody I know speaks French around here.
What I should have taken was Spanish. I know a few words just from hearing them a lot, as there are lots of Spanish speaking people here.
Lots of our foods are labeled in Spanish along with English. It would be fun to be able to be fluent in understanding and speaking Spanish.
I know a few words in Japanese and German too, as we did live in those countries for awhile and as happens, we learned a little of the language.

Thanks, Sadje! It sure would be amazing to be able to converse in different languages. I enjoyed French in school, but Spanish would have been better for me here. 🙂

Yes, very handy. I agree that living in US, Spanish is more useful

What about trying out Duolingo to get the basics of the language? Then you can listen to Spanish Programms to get more into it. I learned a lot English from listening to English Radio. At first I never understood a thing but I must have learned subconsciously because it works now 😁. Where in Germany did you live?

Thanks, Bee! Good suggestions if I get more interested in learning another language. I think we do pick up words and meanings from hearing it spoken, either from people or like you say, the TV.
My husband was stationed in Germany with the Army back in 1971/72. We were at Furth/Nuremburg. We enjoyed our time there. 🙂
