Flower of the Day – Cotton Bolls

Flower of the Day – Cotton Bolls

It’s cotton harvest time here. These cotton bolls show up in the floral departments to use in arrangements this time of year. I like how they look, and adds a local touch, too.

These are cotton bolls. They are sometimes used in flower arrangements to add a bit of interest, especially around here. We have fields after fields of cotton growing. In the fall they look like fields of snow. Then they harvest the cotton and take it to the gin for processing.

Here’s a partial quote from Wiki about our cotton: “…The Lubbock area is the largest contiguous cotton-growing region in the world…”

    • Thanks, Sandee! I can imagine because those cotton boll hulls are sharp. I’ve picked a few from the sides of fields before, too. It’s so pretty though, seeing whole fields of it though.
Wishing you a wonderful Friday and weekend! ❤
