Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a phrase you grew up with.” Include in your post a phrase your mom/dad/grandparent/sibling used all the time when you were growing up, or just write whatever inspires you based on that phrase. Enjoy!

I’ve been thinking it seems for a long time on this question. I basically can’t think of any specific phrases. I just remember a few words they pronounced funny.

We were a very mild family. No one yelled or got mad at anyone. My sister and I were good kids and hardly ever got scolded or got a punishment. So, no phrases remembered of that.

A few funny pronounced words were:

Bat tree – for battery (mom)

Car ma nex – for the lip balm Carmex (mom)

‘The’ K-Mark, ‘The Wal-Mark’ ( mom)

Fa- jeeters – for fajitas (dad)

En chill lollies – for enchiladas (dad)

Jenny’s Rule – for as a general rule (granny)

I always wondered who Jenny was! haha

Must be made of Gold – high priced yard sale items (mom)

Well, that’s all for now. Have a great weekend. 🙂

    • Thanks, Sadje! I think you’re right about a lot of words. haha, then the kids roll their eyes at the grown ups using their words!
For these and a lot of words we say here in the family, being southern and Texan, we do say words funny a lot of the time. I love how words are different in different parts of the US and other countries. 🙂
