  • What is your least favorite holiday side dish?  (for any holiday) … mince pie
  • What is the ugliest or most tasteless decoration you’ve ever seen? … can’t remember seeing any ugly or tasteless ones
  • What is a cherished or unusual (either or both) family tradition from your childhood?   (this is the recycled Evil Squirrel question that got bungled by moi, and sounded like a packaging question.  My bad). … Just getting together with family at grandma’s house for lunch.
  • You’re walking down the street, feeling great — what holiday song would be playing in the background? (aw, play along. I realize some of you prefer a very silent night.  It is an option to pass on this question too.  No offense will be taken). … Feliz Navidad

  1. Nice to learn more about you. I used to make a mince pie for my mom’s boyfriend every year. You are the only other person I know of that likes it. 🙂 XO

    • Thanks, Ellen! Mince pie is not a favorite of mine, though I’ve ate it a time or two. I like the spicy taste, but not the raisin part! haha. I always had to make one for holidays for my dad and my husband because they loved it. My favorite would be pumpkin or pecan! 🙂

  2. Thanks Barbara for Sharing Your World! I suppose mince pie is an acquired taste. I really love it, but it’s far too rich (and sugary) for me to eat very much of. So I have a very small slice (slathered with cream of course). Truly to each their own. It’s very heart warming to read about the kind nature the bloggers here have. Almost everyone has declined to judge ‘ugly decorations’, pointing out (justly) that what’s ugly to one is beautiful to someone else. What a great attitude to have! A very blessed Yuletide to you!

    • Thanks, Melanie! My mom used to make mince pies from scratch, but I’ve only cooked the already made frozen ones. I like most all decorations, some are really pretty, some are way too much, and some show a sense of humor (though not exactly my type) but I don’t mind them. We used to go all around town to see the lights, which was fun. Haven’t done that in years, though. 🙂
