They actually look like pears!

Thanks, Sadje! Yeah, they kind of do. Maybe that’s why they named it that. Interesting looking plant and we see them a lot here in peoples yards and in landscaping around buildings. 🙂

You’re welcome! When I was very young I accidentally grabbed a cactus plant and all the tiny thorns got into my hand. Since then I’ve stay far away from the thorny plants.

Thanks, Paula! Yes, they are, but you’d have to be really careful to get the spine stickers off. We see these for sale in the grocery stores here. Also there are lots in peoples yards around town. 🙂

Love the color, but not a fan of cactus. You have to be careful how you approach them.
Have a fabulous day and weekend, Barbara. ♥

Thanks, Sandee! I love the color of these, too, and I believe they have flowers during part of the year. We see them in the yards and in landscaping around buildings around town. Also they are sold to eat, at the grocery store. I’ve never tried it, though.
Hope your Friday is a good one! ❤

I love these. The ones that grow on the beach at Lake Michigan have yellow blossoms. I have seen them packaged to eat in the produce section once or twice but never considered eating them.

Thanks, Li! They are sure a neat looking plant, but wouldn’t get too close to them. I took this photo when we were in S TX (Ft. Davis) quite a few years ago. But we see them all around town, and also in the grocery stores for eating & cooking with. I’ve never tried them, either! 🙂
