Flower of the Day – Desert Red Yucca

Flower of the Day – Desert Red Yucca

These were part of the landscaping outside a restaurant. They’re pretty typical of the type we see around here.

When I got closer, I noticed the large, green pods. Could they be seed pods?

So, I searched around and found out it is called Red Yucca, and is native to this desert area here in west TX, and on to the south into Mexico.

Very tall stems with red flowers coming up from spiky green leaves

    • Thanks, Sandee! We’re semi desert here, probably because it’s so dry most of the year. I love desert plants. They have to be hardy to thrive in harsh conditions.
Hope your day is going great! ❤
