Blue eyed dreamer

Pale of face

Sees beyond eternities grace

Dark swirling demons

He must confront

Evil powers he will blunt

Ritual of sage

Chants profound

Banish monsters all around

The smudge he waves

Above ~ Below

Cleansing smoke now bestow

Leave behind peaceful glow

    • Thanks so much, Joe! I’ve read that smudging your house helps to cleanse the area of evil spirits that may be hanging around. If nothing else the house will smell good. 🙂

      • You’re absolutely correct on both accounts! It’s nice to see such a thing in practice. Back on the reservation I grew up on, we also used Juniper. 😊

      • Very good. I’m sure being open minded about things like this, and having some belief in the ritual of cleansing has a lot to do with it being successful.

    • Thanks so much, Bjorn! I enjoyed writing to this prompt as it goes along with my fan fiction story. So glad you stopped in to read this. I appreciate your comments! 🙂

  1. Thanks for using this translation of the word, ‘smudge”. In my experience it was more related to releasing our own negative thoughts that we allow to collect rather than evil or monsters, per say. Then again…those negative thoughts could truly be our own personal monsters. Sounds like you have a story that it relates to well. 🙂

    • Thanks, Mish! You have a point about that, that our own thoughts either negative or positive can have a big influence on our outlook and beliefs. Yes, in the story I write, one of the characters is always smudging his house to get rid of evil spirits. 🙂
