Todays prompt words are easy enough to find in the title or lyrics in songs, but what threw me off this morning was the hint that maybe it should be about weddings. So, I looked for some like that, but though there were some good oldies like that, I went with a different one.

I found this new to me song randomly, and am glad I did. I like it a lot. What’s strange is when I went to read about it, and the artist, I was surprised that he grew up here in my hometown of Lubbock, Texas.

Sorry I’d never heard of his songs before, so it was a good extra surprise, and am happy to include the song in today’s SLS challenge. It has a really good and uplifting message for everyone. Hope you like it, too.

From a Wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Wilson_(musician)

Growing up in Lubbock, Texas, Wilson often listened to music or played it. By age 7, his interest in music had expanded to include other instruments. After taking piano lessons, he also added drums and guitar to his growing collection of musical competencies.

Josh Wilson says, “It’s based on the phrase “don’t borrow trouble,” which essentially means today has enough trouble of its own, so there’s no need to borrow any from tomorrow.”

“Borrow (One Day At a Time)”, was released from his 2018 album, “Don’t Look Back”.

One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
Sometimes I feel just like I did in the 8th grade
All alone, insecure, and so very afraid
Seems like everybody else they got it figured out
While I’m stuck here, in another nervous breakdown
Life crashes like a panic attack
The fear of the future breaks me in half
I try so hard but it’s a losing fight
I fake a smile in the day, and fall apart at night
I’m lying awake cause I just can’t sleep
I toss and I turn but can’t find no peace
I keep praying to God,
He keeps telling me
Don’t worry, don’t worry
Don’t borrow, no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow, no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
I wanna learn to hold my life a little looser
Live in the moment instead of in the future
Let tomorrow worry about itself
And be here right now, trust all is well
Cause the flowers and birds they don’t worry a bit
And a good God takes good care of them
And he loves you and me so much more than this
So don’t worry, don’t worry
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
To the weary moms and worn out dads
And the middle school kid, who’s always picked last
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time
To the downcast and doubters and misfits like me
To the addicts who are fighting through recovery
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time
To the struggling saints on the narrow road
When you’re anxious, depressed and feeling alone
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time
To all of God’s children, let’s never forget
We’re forgiven and free, but we are not home yet
We gotta take it, we gotta take it
One day, one day, one day
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say

  1. The world certainly has enough trouble and sometimes I wonder if people are just trying to make things worse. One day at a time sounds like a good strategy to follow.
