  1. What exactly is a “rhetorical question?”  … This is a question concerning all things retro – history.
  2. What is meant by a “hair’s breadth”?  … This is when you have flyaway static hair, and you blow it off your face with a puff of air.
  3. How long is a “New York minute”?  … Probably the time it takes to cook a ‘minute’ steak on the stove.
  4. What does it mean to “fly by the seat of your pants”?  … It means you’re on a carnival ride.
  5. What does “by the skin of your teeth” mean? … That’s the nasty stuff that coats your teeth when you fail to brush them regularly.
  6. What are “the dog days of summer”? … These are fun holidays for our dogs – kinda like Christmas for dogs.
  7. What does it mean to “go ’round Robin Hood’s barn“?  … This phrase means to keep a deep dark secret & never tell.
  8. What does it mean when a project “gets the green light”? … This means something has been sterilized with ultra-violet light, but green.
  9. What does it mean to “eighty-six” something?  … Well, it means you’ve pulled the slot machine handle 86 times before winning a jack pot.
  10. What or where exactly is “file thirteen”?  … This is a manicurist’s term for filing fingernails.
