Flower of the Day – Venus Flytrap

Flower of the Day – Venus Flytrap

This Venus Flytrap may not look like a typical flower when we see them, but it is sold along with all the flowers in the floral department at the store. It does produce white flowers, though, and is known to live for 20 years. Such an interesting plant, and the colors are as pretty as flowers.

    • Thanks, Priscilla! It sure is a strange looking one. I think I read somewhere that they only grow wild in one certain area of the US, and were probably/maybe some sort of organism from another planet that hitched a ride on a meteorite many years ago, and it landed here. Who knows? I like to think so. 🙂

  1. Oh my goodness! I remember trying to “feed” them flies when I was a kid. My fingers got in the way, so the flies escaped. 😅

    • Thanks, Dora! These are strange little plants for sure. What a story you have to tell! Thanks! I did buy one and hoped I’d see it catch a fly, but it never did. 🙂
