The rules are simple:
1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 30th April.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do
4. Create a Pingback to this post or link in the comments
5. Tag “The Last Photo”

One of the first songs I learned to sing in English was, “Listen to the mockingbird!”

Thanks, Russell! I remember that song and it’s a good one.
The Mockingbird is the state bird of Texas, so we do see a lot of them around here. They are fun to listen to. 🙂

They are amazing birds- tough and fearless. I’ve seen them dive-bomb cats, people and dogs. They jealously protect not only their children, but other kin-folk, living in little tribes. I stumbled across a young mockingbird once and it let me get very close. I took probably the best bird photos I’ve ever taken. I’ll try to find one and post it as a featured photo. 😺

They sure are great little birds. I always like seeing them around here. That is really cool about your close encounter with the young one. I’ll be on the lookout for your photo! 🙂

A dog water bowl is as good as any to get a drink or bath for a bird. Love the sneaky through the window shot. I do a lot of that as well. Thanks for joining in Barbara:) 🙂

Thanks, Brian! We do keep the water bowl filled so the birds and cats outside can get a drink. You’ll notice too the crunchy cat food on the porch. The birds eat as much of it as the cats do, sometimes all at the same time – they don’t mind sharing. Yes, for me it’s the best way to get a photo through the window or door. If I go out there they fly away. 🙂

I did see the snacks too. I have the same problem when I see a bird and open the door to get a better photo….whoosh and they are gone 🙂 🙂

The state bird of Texas and Florida and a few others. They are the boss! We have a nest in our front yard. Looks like that bird was about to take a bath??? 🙂

Thanks, Lisa! I love seeing and hearing the Mockingbirds. They really get going with their sounds sometimes. We keep the water bowl out there for the birds and the cats that come around. There are always cat crunchies on the porch too, and they all gobble it up. This one did perch on the edge of the bowl for a nice long drink. No bath though, haha. 🙂

We had a mockingbird at the condo that had 47 songs, back to back to back. We counted. The one yesterday had 21. Impressive but not like the one from years ago. 🙂

Wow that’s a lot of songs! It’s so fun to hear them mimic all kinds of other birds, and they go right from one to another. Nice that you counted them. 🙂
