Ma belle amie
You were a child of the sun
And the sky and the deep blue sea
Ma belle amie
Après tous les beaux jours
Je te dis merci merci
You were the answer of all my questions
Before were through
I want to tell you that I adore you
And always do
That you amaze me by leaving me now
And start a-new
Ma belle amie I’m in love with you
Let the bells ring
Let the birds sing
Lets all give my substitute a big cheer
Let the bells ring
Let the birds sing
For the man after him waits here
For the man after him waits here
Ma belle amie
You were a child of the sun
And the sky and the deep blue sea
Ma belle amie
There was a time that you thought
That your only friend was me
You were the answer of all my questions
Before were through
I want to tell you that I adore you
And always do
That you amaze me by leaving me now
And start a-new
Ma belle amie I’m in love with you
Let the bells ring
Let the birds sing
Lets all give my substitute a big cheer
Let the bells ring
Let the birds sing
For the man after him waits here
For the man after him waits here

    • Thanks, Jim! Yes! I like when songs have a little bit of another language in them. I did take a few years of French in school. I can remember some of the words. haha! 🙂

  1. When I was doing a miniseries on Dutch one-hit wonders a few years ago (Yes, there have been four of them!), it was pointed out that I missed this song and group. Still haven’t gotten back to featuring them on Monday, but thanks for reminding me I need to do so sometime! Great song!

    • Thanks, Lisa! Glad you like it. It is an oldie, which I’ve liked for a long time, but they never play it on the radio. So many good songs they could be playing, but they seem to play the same ones over and over it seems. 🙂

      • YouTube is a great thing! We can go there anytime to listen to anything at any moment in time. I haven’t listened to a radio station in 10 years. I have Sirius XM….but I rarely drive my car anymore. Post office every day to drop off my orders and a dr. appt from time to time. We take Frank’s Prius everywhere we go now instead of my gas guzzling Ford Taurus. LOL!

      • I’m really glad to have the means of YouTube to find songs so easily, plus the lyrics! We don’t have any of those newer kinds of radio listening things, just a transistor radio and one that is on an old CD player, and the one in the truck. But we listen to them all the time. 🙂
