I first heard of Amanda Marshall while seeing her on a TV talk show years ago. I think this is the song she did sing on that occasion. Later, I bought her CD and she has lots of great songs on there. One of them was also included in the soundtrack of the movie, “Tin Cup”.

I really enjoy hearing her sing, and I hope you do do. 🙂

From the Wiki article:

Elton John remarked that “Dark Horse” was a “guaranteed hit” after he mentioned that he was listening to Amanda Marshall’s album.[3]

“Dark Horse” peaked at number five on the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart on the issue of March 17, 1997.[4] The single also peaked at number one on the same publication’s Adult Contemporary chart two weeks later.[5] It was the twenty-seventh most successful song of 1997 in Canada and the third-most successful adult contemporary hit of the year in the country.[6][7] The song also charted within the lower reaches on the charts of Australia and Germany, making it to numbers 70 and 93 respectively.[8][9] Despite its low peak on the German chart, it stayed in the top 100 for six nonconsecutive weeks.[9]

“Dark Horse”, by Amanda Marshall, was her single released from her album, “Amanda Marshall”, in 1995. It was written by Amanda Marshall, David Tyson, and Dean McTaggart, and is on the Epic label.

Indian summer
Abeline
You were new in town, I was nineteen
And sparks flew
They called us crazy behind our backs
“Romantic fools, ” we just let them laugh
Because we knew
It may be a long shot
We may get lonely down the line
But love knows no reason
And I won’t let ’em make up my mind
My money’s riding on this dark horse, baby
My heart is saying it’s the lucky one
And it’s true color’s gonna shine through someday
If we let this, let this dark horse run
The stars are brighter in the desert sky
No need to wonder or justify
Where this will lead
I wear your locket, our picture’s inside
Inscription says ‘the joy’s in the ride’
And I believe
That something so sacred
Is something worth this kind of fight
Cause love knows no patience
You can’t please everyone all the time
My money’s riding on this dark horse, baby
My heart is saying it’s the lucky one
And it’s true color’s gonna shine through someday
If we let this, let this dark horse run
So rare
So sweet
Together baby, I know
We can
Disappear
Be free
My money’s riding on this dark horse, baby
My heart is saying it’s the lucky one
And it’s true color’s gonna shine through someday
If we let this, let this dark horse run
My money’s riding on this dark horse, baby
My heart is saying it’s the lucky one
And it’s true color’s gonna shine through someday
If we let this, let this dark horse run
Indian summer
Abeline
You were new in town, I was nineteen
Yeah, baby
In the summertime
Yeah, yeah
Ooh, yeah
