Bird Weekly – Photo Challenge – Black & White – Sepia

***

My cousin, Mike, raises exotic chickens.

The first photo shows a large black & white chicken with an elaborate all black feathery head-dress. He calls this one Silver. I think it is a Polish Silver breed of chicken.

The next photo is Mike holding Silver.

The next photo is another kind of chicken he is holding. He calls this one Houdie. Could be because it is a breed of chicken called Houdan.ย  It is a large black and white chicken, with itโ€™s head-dress of feathers of black & white.

Very cool chickens! ๐Ÿ™‚

When we visited the Kansas City Zoo, we saw a lot of different kinds of birds. Hereโ€™s a few:

  • An Ostrich getting a drink of water
  • A Lorikeet
  • A Lorikeetย  perching on our arm (they also perched on our heads and shoulders)
  • A Penguin

And this is just a black bird on the back porch. I think it is a grackle.

Thanks for visiting! Peace โ˜ฎ๏ธ

  1. These are fabulous! Those chickens…what can you say about that? They look like they are ready to go to battle from the 1800’s. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love that you added the zoo birds too. Lorikeets are fun to be around especially when you have their sweet nectar. So glad you joined back in this week! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks, Lisa! I love seeing all the different kinds of chickens. The ones he raises are like pets, and he names them all.
I enjoyed seeing the lorikeets, too, so pretty. We could go in their enclosure and they’d perch on our arms or even our head. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Same here, they would be as pets, or just for the eggs. That’s what he does, too. Yes, that photo of the lorikeet on your head is so cute. Wish these birds were flying free around here. It would be amazing to see them like that. ๐Ÿ™‚
