Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “song.” First, find a picture–the closest one to you. Your prompt is the title and/or the lyrics of the first song that comes to mind when you look at the picture. Have fun!

Well, I don’t really have any pictures hanging on the walls here, or rather I do have a calendar picture of a cat from December, wearing a Santa hat. But, I can’t really think of any cat songs except one, which is by the Stray Cats, which I’ve posted more than once on here, so …

All I have on the wall is my collection of crosses. I got them at different yard sales over the years. This photo is of just a few of them. There is a small photo of the artist Frida Kahlo, too. I admire her and her work, and she certainly had her crosses to bear in her life.

There are probably lots of songs about crosses, but the one I thought of first is “Southern Cross”, by Crosby, Stills, & Nash. It’s a good song and nice video, too.

Now how to connect … in a round about way …

The Southern Cross in the song is about a star constellation in the southern hemisphere, I think. I’ve never seen it, being we live in the northern hemisphere.

The song mentions having been around the world, and I’ve been a lot of places in the world, though I’ve never been sailing.

We are a southern state here in TX, and my crosses are all from here, so … Southern Cross.

Anyway, that’s how I thought of all this.

Speaking of stars and such, we were looking for the comet Neowise this morning right before dawn. It’s supposed to be in the NE of the sky. We didn’t see it, though, so will keep trying the next few days.

I remember the last comet we saw several years ago. It might have been the Hale Bop one? Or another, I can’t remember, but it was awesome to see. It was very bright and night after night we could see it.
