Turtle, Roof, & Power Outage

or random post # ?

For awhile I was doing some random posts and had them numbered. I forgot what number I was on, though.

Back on June 21st we looked out in the front yard and saw this cute little turtle. Of course I had to take his picture. He looks almost like the box turtle we used to have named Herbie. The kitties, Wow Wow and Wee Wow sure were interested in this turtle. ๐Ÿ™‚

Then the mister took him back down to the lake. Guess he stayed there. He was a fast little guy. When I was taking his photo he was walking so fast I could barely keep up with him.

It was the same day I think that our power went out for awhile during the day. A couple of times, one for a short time, then again for an hour or so. The utility company here has been working on replacing power poles and such down the road, so every once in awhile it interrupts a section of our neighborhood. We never know when it will happen, but wish they’d hurry up and finish with their project.

We should be getting a new roof pretty soon. That last wind storm really did tear a lot of shingles off our roof, and we’ve never had a new one since we’ve lived here, and that’s been over 20 years. Our insurance company and the roofing company are still working out details. Meanwhile they came and put plastic over the bare parts of our roof. That wind storm was awful – wind speeds at 70 mph! That was on June 4th.

That storm also blew down a couple of trees across from us, plus their fence. They’ve since cleared it all, and put up a new fence.

And that’s how the month of June has gone. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for visiting! Peace โ˜ฎ๏ธ

      • Yes, I can imagine it would definitely increase the price total. I don’t know all that much about it, but I think ours just needs the re-shingle. It’s been through several big storms, so it’s time for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks, Li!
It hasn’t been bad, just different. Would rather not have to have a new roof, bu still it is necessary.
Today it’s 100 to 102 here, so we’ll see how July goes heat wise. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Your kitties are beautiful. I like turtles too. I used to have 2, Mr. and Mrs. Slowsky. They lived over 10 years, but I was surprised they didn’t last longer.

    • Thanks, Ellen! So cool you had turtles, and what you named them is great! We’d had our Herbie for quite a few years, then when we moved here, I think he wandered out of the yard and down to the lake. We never saw him again. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks, Beth!
haha yes the kitties were fascinated by the turtle. We do occasionally see one that comes up from the lake, along with geese and ducks that wander around. Still waiting on the roof, but hope soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks so much! The cats sure liked watching the turtle walk around the yard. He wasn’t a bit scared, either. He never went into his shell at all.
Glad you got a good roof for your house. There are a few homes around here that have metal roofs, too. ๐Ÿ™‚
