Today we have songs performed by two people in a duet. There are many artists that collaborate like this, and they usually are very good. For mine today, since it’s for duets, I give you a duet of songs by the same couple. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Kasey Chambers is one of our favorite singers, and we have several of her albums. She and Shane Nicholson, who she duets with on these songs, were married in 2005, have two children, but separated after eight years.

In October 2013, the album, “Wreck & Ruin”, won Best Country Album at the 2013 ARIA Awards

“The Quiet Life”, is the second single from Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson’s duet album, “Wreck & Ruin”. Producers are Nash Chambers, Kasey Chambers, and Shane Nicholson. It is on the Liberation Music & Sugar Hill Records labels.

We could be the talk of the town tonight
Carry home your shoes in the morning light
Or we could just stay here a while
Wrapped up in the quiet life
We could sail away to Tobago
Fly across the Gulf of Mexico
Or we could just stay here a while
Wrapped up in the quiet life
Now and then I’m loving the world again
And I’ll be fine living in the quiet life
We could get a job on the movie screen
Smile on the cover of a magazine
Or we could just be man and wife
Happy in the quiet life
Where the clock don’t move so quick
Where the water don’t make you sick
Traffic don’t keep you up at night
Here in the quiet life
Now and then I’m loving the world again
And I’ll be fine living in the quiet life
Living in the quiet life
Sleeping by a firelight
Maybe I could make you smile
In the quiet life
We could be the talk of the town tonight

From a Wiki article:

In 2008, Nicholson joined with wife Kasey Chambers for the critically acclaimed Rattlin’ Bones roots/country album, which debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA charts, achieved platinum-plus sales and eventually won an ARIA Award for Best Country release in Australia in 2008 and also receive five Golden Guitar Awards in Australia in 2009.

“Rattlin’ Bones”, by Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson.

[Chorus]
Smoke don’t rise, fuel don’t burn
Sun don’t shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratching at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Draggin’ this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattlin’ bones

[Verse 1]
Left my home and left my love
Caught on a rusty nail
Devil rose up heavy with gold
My soul’s not for sale
Then a holy man in a house of God
He offered me a book of prayer
But when I left my home and I left my love
Left my faith back there

[Chorus]
Smoke don’t rise, fuel don’t burn
Sun don’t shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratchin’ at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Draggin’ this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattlin’ bones

Shut my eyes and hang my head
Darkness makes no sound
Climb it up, bottom there
Earth’s on the way back down
When a sadness falls on the morning bird
Wonder what the day will bring
But I shut my eyes and hang my head
At least that bird can sing

[Chorus]
Smoke don’t rise, fuel don’t burn
Sun don’t shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratchin’ at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Draggin’ this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattlin’ bones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattlin’ bones

      • Technology – you just never know why it messes up and it’s so frustrating when it does. Glad you got to listen to the second one, anyway, and no problem that it wasn’t to your taste. I’m the same way about songs, some I like some not so much. ๐Ÿ™‚
