Escapist Coloring Club – January
The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – January 1, 2020
***
I haven’t done a lot of coloring the past month or so, but I did do this one.
I received as a Christmas gift from my daughter, this new book. It has lots of interesting pages to color in.
On this one I used only markers, because I got a new set. I needed some that had a small or fine tip, because regular ones won’t do on these tiny designs.
The only bad thing is that they soak through to the other side, which ruins the picture on the other side. I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix the pages so I can put a blotter page in between.
Did you know that on most paper like this, and others, you can separate them? It takes a bit of careful doing, but it does work. I learned to do this while making scrapbooks and wanted both sides of an item to show.

This is a rhinoceros that I used several colors on. Green, aqua, orange and yellow. I’ve left some parts white.

Interesting colorful beast 🙂 A question: Did you select the colors or were they suggestive?

Thanks, J.
No, there were no guidelines or suggestions to follow. I always just pick whatever colors I think goes good together. 🙂

I was curious since I’ve known rhinos to be brown to gray. For certain your rhino is going to stand out in the crowd – the life of the party – can’t miss it. 🙂 No wallflower!! I hope you don’t mind my comment – that’s my quick wit speaking for me.

haha! I know this one sure would get some attention with all the colors on him. I figure these coloring books with their fanciful designs call for something a bit silly, and I like playing around with colors. Thanks so much, for your comments – I enjoy hearing from you. 🙂

Your rhino looks cool, Barbara. I didn’t realize you could separate the pages.

Thanks, Li. 🙂
Some papers you can very carefully divide the layers. Lots of times I mess it up by tearing a hole in it, but I like to try anyway.

What a gorgeous rhino, Barbara! I had a set of markers I had to stop using because they bled through. I like the idea of photocopying them … if that’s reasonable. Let us know if you come up with another solution!

I will. I do have some books that are blank on the back, so the markers will be okay. I’ll just have to use pencils on these I guess. I tried separating the pages but they kept tearing. 🙂

What a remarkable rhino! Love the way you colored him, my book has some animals also. I think mine is called The Enchanted Garden. I have been using glitter gel pens and they don’t bleed through, you might like those!

Glad you liked how this one turned out. Sometimes I want to make them look real, but other times just want to have fun with crazy coloring.
That’s a good idea to use gel pens. I will have to get some. 🙂

I did find some at a store here, yesterday, and wow – they sure work great. That set only had 6 colors, so maybe I will get others. 🙂

Stunning. In a book I got for Christmas, there is a card sheet you can place between the pages. Maybe you can do something like that?

That is a great idea for keeping those markers from soaking through to the next page. 🙂
