I read the whole Wiki article about how this song came about, and it’s pretty interesting. You can find it … here

But, here are a few tidbits:

  • …They began writing the song on {a} tour bus, and continued later that night at their hotel
  • …unusually for a love song, the lyrics are not about the narrator’s love for someone else; instead the narrator functions as a helpful go-between for estranged lovers
  • The “yeah, yeah, yeah” refrain proved an immediate, infectious musical hook.
  • In November 2004, Rolling Stone ranked “She Loves You” number 64 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

“She Loves You”, by the Beatles, was released as a single in 1963. It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and is on the Capitol – Swan, and Parlophone labels.

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
You think you’ve lost your love
Well, I saw her yesterday
It’s you she’s thinking of
And she told me what to say

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She says she loves you
And you know that can’t be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind
But now she said she knows
You’re not the hurting kind

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She says she loves you
And you know that can’t be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad, ooh

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

[Verse 3: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
You know it’s up to you
I think it’s only fair
Pride can hurt you, too
Apologise to her

[Refrain: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
Because she loves you
And you know that can’t be bad
She loves you
And you know you should be glad, ooh

[Chorus: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

[Outro: Paul McCartney & John Lennon]
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    • Thanks, Jim! It’s a good song from the early days.
You know, I was at a loss for a song to post today, until I happened to turn on the radio and this song was playing on the oldies station. How funny is that! 🙂

    • Thanks, Carol Anne!
It’s a really good early song of theirs, and isn’t it great to have the internet to find out new information about the songs.
Happy to have you visit here. 🙂

  1. I think they were being pelted with jelly babies in this. Apparently word got out that they liked jelly babies and fans would toss them at the band, who might have liked them but didn’t appreciate being pelted with them. Great choice!
