Flower of the Day – Ocotillo

Flower of the Day – Ocotillo

Red flowers on long spikey stems.

These are called Ocotillo, and are interesting looking.

They look like just some spiny, dead branches, until it gets rain. Then the branches turn green, and bright crimson flowers appear. The flowers are sometimes used in salads. The branches are sometimes used for fencing material, and also for walking canes. This is what I read about them on Wikipedia. We have them all over the place, here in town. I suppose they grow so well here because we are considered semi-desert in this area.

    • Thanks, Sandee!
I like these flowers, too. I see them everywhere around here, in people’s yards, around businesses, and in landscaping along the roads.
Hope your day went well, ❤
