Let’s Chat – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – rap/wrap

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 21/19

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “wrap/rap.” Use one, use both (for bonus points), use ’em any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Today for SOCS, we have the prompt words of rap/wrap. Thanks, Linda!

It’s taken me awhile to do this post. First I thought of wrapping paper, but I don’t use a lot of it any more, because I usually just put a gift in a pretty gift bag with some tissue paper. Looks pretty and is easy to do.

I used to get all creative, but that was a long time ago.

Anyway, I remembered back in the 60s or 70s people would use the word ‘rap’ a lot. It meant they wanted to talk.

Here are some definitions I found for the word ‘rap’ used in this way:

To talk, speak, chat, exchange thoughts with, and have a conversation with someone.

the use of speech for informal exchange of views or ideas or information etc.

talk or chat in an easy and familiar manner.

This is a fun song we used to hear all the time, and I remembered I do still have this record. 🙂

“The Rapper”, by The Jaggerz, was released in 1970. It became a big hit for the band. It was written by Donnie Iris.

This is my original 45 record of this song:

Well, when making this post, I couldn’t seem to get the video loaded like I wanted, and kept messing around with it. I accidentally hit the publish button instead of the preview button, and had to trash the whole thing and start over. hahaha – yeah, not all that funny.

Also, I kept thinking this was Friday today. My daughter caught me out on that one, and we did have a laugh over that boo-boo. 🙂

And now I will wrap this rap post up by wishing you all a wonderful weekend without too many mess-ups.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

    • Well, for me I’d never heard of Donnie Iris or his song/video of ‘Ah, Leah’. Interesting since now I watched the video. He kind of had a Buddy Holly look going on. 🙂

      • He does look like Buddy Holly in that video! I’m not sure if that was his normal look or not since it’s the only thing I know him from. It was a fringe hit, but a good little rocker, and one I might need to add to the DVA list…

      • I don’t know, either if that is his style for the stage or not. It would be a good one for your DVA, just to see if anyone else remembers this oldie song. 🙂

    • Thanks, Laura!
That would be pretty funny if you asked your teens to ‘rap’ with you. I can just imagine the looks you’d get when you explained you just wanted to talk. haha! 🙂

  1. Blog tech troubles can really eat some time! Of course, if you didn’t know which day it was, you maybe don’t feel like you lost time 😉 Glad you got it sorted.

    • Thanks, Joey! I never know what weirdness WP will come up with from day to day, or what I’ll manage to mess up on my own. Somehow we just find a way to work around it.
Being that every day around here is basically the same, it does get confusing as to what day it is. haha! 🙂

    • Thanks, JoAnna!
You’re right! Back when this song came out I know I never paid much attention to what they were singing about, but now listening to it, I give it some raised eyebrows … ohhhhh that’s what it’s about. 🙂
