Feline Friday – Antique White Cat Salt & Pepper Shakers
***
***
These are antique white cat salt & pepper shakers. They are supposed to be holding a pink and a blue ball of yarn, but they are so old, the yarn is messed up. I don’t know if I should try to remove them or not.
An interesting bit about these, is the underside. There is a thing inside that makes a noise like a cat, when you turn the shaker over. At least I think that is what it should do, and what the owner of the antique store said. That part doesn’t work any more, though.
These photos are just different views of the two white cats with blue eyes (side by side, single view of each, back view, underside view) They are made of glass or ceramic.

The shakers are cute. If it was me I would leave the yarn as it is part of them.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking, too. Better to leave antiques alone how you find them most of the time. I’m not planning on selling these, but I hear that it’s not good to alter antiques as it effects the selling price. 🙂

Love these. Eyes are beautiful. I vote for you to keep the yarn. If you replace the yarn, their value goes way down. I like the original anyway; but I do like the antique look. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Oneta! I think you’re right, that I should keep them as they are. I have read that antiques reduce in value if you alter them. 🙂
