Reflection on a to Z Blog Challenge 2019

***

Now that the A to Z Blog Challenge 2019 is finished, we are to reflect back on our journey through the alphabet, as we did, one day at a time.

This was my 6th time to participate, and it was just as fun and interesting as it was every other time.

I didn’t have a dedicated theme to my posts this year, but posted a variety of topics, from true ghost stories to funny word definitions. A few of my posts were brand new, but most had been written a long time ago on here, but almost no one came to visit, or commented, or even pushed the like button on them. So, why not post them again to see what would happen this time around.

Well, I had a wonderful response from my readers! Thanks so much for your support. I appreciate it very much.

I enjoyed visiting the posts of those others who were taking part in the A to Z this year, too. There are so many talented and interesting people who blog out there, and never enough time to get around to every single one that was on the sign up list. So many of my regular blogging friends were also doing this challenge, it was all I could manage to visit them, if not every day, then at least a few times.

~

For next year’s April A to Z, I will probably participate again. I may or may not have a certain theme, but I’m leaning toward that, as it seems easier to know beforehand what you will be posting about. As it is, we have almost a whole year to come up with something fun and new for a theme.

All in all, I love this challenge, and plan on doing it again next year!

    • Thanks, Emily!
I think you’re right…better to have a theme. I’ve done it both ways, and if I can decide on something by next year, that’s what I’ll do. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I didn’t realize your posts were old! I know what you mean about visiting. It takes some time but now that it’s over I plan to visit some new folks.

    • Thanks, Janet!
I figured I’d use some older posts that in the early days no one had seen. It worked out pretty good, and I did add a few new ones here and there. I’ll probably go visit some new blogger’s posts later on, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Oops, we have to reflect on it? Uh oh. Like you I found it interesting. It’s tough to keep up though. It’s a great idea to republish old posts. In the beginning of a blog, I think we put a lot of time in our posts but at that time we don’t have many readers and over time we grow an audience. I know people think of reposting other people’s stuff but reposting our own things actually brings it to a new audience. I’ve done it in blog hops too — mostly writer’s prompts, when someone does a prompt that’s perfect for a poem I did ages ago, I add that poem’s old post to the linkup. It has to fit the theme though.

    • Thanks, M!
You’re right that in the early days I didn’t have many followers or readers, so why not give my posts another chance now! I don’t do it very often, but like you say, if it fits a prompt, why not. Sometimes I’ll add something, or rearrange something, but nothing wrong with that. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Actually I saw a site recommending doing rewrites, additions and rearranging because Google notices if there is enough of a change and it ranks higher in a search than it does when it’s been sitting out there awhile. I don’t know how much is enough of a change though.

      • That’s pretty interesting. I’m not usually understanding any of that ranking stuff, but great if it works out for good.
I don’t think it’s mandatory to do a reflection post of the A to Z, but it’s nice to sort of sum up how it went for you during the month. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You WILL participate again, if I have anything to say about it…

Seriously, I liked your posts and it’s always nice when you can do an “encore presentation” of a post you did in the very early days. I just did that this morning, in fact…

    • Yes, sir! I will participate next year! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks, John! It’s always fun to do this challenge, and by the end we’re feeling run ragged with it all, but come next year…I tend to get all excited about it again.
I do sometimes re-post something from way back when, especially all those posts I have on Blogger that no one saw.

  4. I got into the habit of visiting you during the challenge and I want to keep visiting. I enjoyed your posts and the Chickens in the Box were a daily delight ๐Ÿ™‚
