Day Out Splat! – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Falls From the Sky

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 4/19

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fall from the sky.” Write about anything that falls from the sky–real, imagined, or idiomatic. Have fun!

Our day out almost started with a splat falling from the sky!

Yeah, my daughter and I had another day out, trying to find some yard sales, then going to the library book sale, then to eat lunch. My grand-daughter didn’t come with us this time, as she stayed home with her dad.

First yard sale we found nothing good…some old toys, knick-knacks, purses…blah, blah, blah. Then, when we got back in the car after buying nothing, my daughter told me the toys had mice poop all over them. Ewwww! People…clean up your junk before trying to sell it!

So, we drive off, and about a block away it happened…the splat that fell from the sky. Bird poop landed on the windshield…right on my side! Ugh! It did make a splat noise, too. Well, we were hysterically laughing and grossing out over that for awhile.

The library book sale was okay, but crowded as all get out…with half the people coughing and/or sneezing all over the place. Wonderful….

But, we did find quite a few used books to buy.

Next, lunch…at almost 3 p.m. We were starving by then, the food was good, and we enjoyed it. (today though, my daughter said either that food or something else had made her really sick overnight)

Back at home…time for a big ‘ol thunderstorm…loud thunder, bright lightning, and of course falling from the sky was buckets of rain and some hail stones. Splat!

What all has been falling from your sky?

Here’s a picture of a giant, brown, carved wood bear. He is standing on his back legs so he’s really tall, has a fish in his paws, and a red bandana around his neck. He’s in front of glass windows in the lobby of the restaurant we went to, which is a seafood place.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

    • The hail was just small ones, and didn’t last long last night. We have had hail so bad it broke out windows in the past. Knock wood that won’t happen this year. 🙂

    • Oh, me too…allergy sneezing is okay, but you can never be sure. Man, we used lots of wipeys after leaving. Yes, my daughter was doing fine after a little while. Thanks. 🙂

    • OMG! You made me laugh at this…I never even thought how weird that tag is. Who knows, someone might just be looking for mice & bird poop on the internet! hahaha 🙂
I think I’ll start using funny tags more, now.

  1. I haven’t been to a library book sale in forever! That sounds pretty appealing (even though I still haven’t read all the books I’ve collected around here).

    • Thanks, Laura! Our main library has a sale at least twice a year. We load up on books, and for the low prices of 50 cents, or a dollar, it’s a bargain. I try to read what I buy, but am way behind. Still…books…always want more. haha! 🙂

  2. Hey Barbara, that is one helluvva nice looking bear, we have had a mixture of weather over here in the UK this weekend, yesterday we had snow, it’s May – does make me laugh! I used to go to quite a few library sales, strangely enough they don’t have them much anymore now that l am adult, but as a kid every weekend.

    • Thanks, Rory!
I like that big ‘ol bear, too. It’s really tall!
Hard to believe places are still getting snow this far into spring! The winter that never ends…hmmm?
Wish you could find some good book sales there, but glad you got to go when you were a kid. We find books at used book stores and yard sales, too. Maybe there’s some of those around your area. 🙂

      • Hey Barbara, yes we have those – but l brought back 100 odd books from my father’s house after he passed, and l did that in January and things have been so hectic here of late, l am still reading just one, the same one, still haven’t finished it.

I can no longer read in bed as l can’t hold a book above my head to read, so end up reading mostly in the toilet ha ha 🙂

      • It does take awhile to get through all the books we want to read, doesn’t it! Just last week my aunt gave me a big bag of books she was finished with, too. So, I’m good for awhile.
I hear you…I can’t read in bed either, makes my arms hurt holding it up! I read while eating meals, and then in a recliner chair at night, but then fall asleep right there. 🙂

    • Thanks, John!
I have no idea why this place has a bear. It was at their first location, and it moved with them to their new location now. On his shoulder is the Texas Tech University emblem, but still…why a bear? TTU’s mascot and teams are not bears at all. It’s a masked raider, like an old cowboy Texas Tech Red Raiders. No bears in sight associated with them. Bears like fish…I guess that’s it. 🙂 Oh the name of the restaurant is Rock Fish.:)
