Mail – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Mail – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 23/19

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last piece of mail you received.” Talk about the subject of the last piece of physical mail you received, i.e. a gas bill–talk about gas, not the bill itself. Have fun!

For today’s SOCS, Linda has presented us with a different kind of prompt topic. Sounds fun. Thanks, Linda!

Well, we’re supposed to talk about our mail. The thing is, we didn’t get any mail at all in our mailbox yesterday. It happens like that sometimes. When we do get something it is mostly junk mail or bills. But yesterday…nothing. Which might be a good thing?

So, I should write about nothing. How do you do that…write about nothing?

Well, that TV show, “Seinfeld” was said to be a show about nothing, so those writers of the show were writing about nothing, now weren’t they. Except all the characters had something to say and do.

I think I’ll wait a little while before finishing this. I want to see if we get any mail in the box today. 🙂

Now, here it is Sunday morning. I waited and waited to see if we got any new mail yesterday. Finally this morning, I asked the mister if we’d gotten any mail. He said yes, it was just a form letter thing from a loan company trying to get us to take out a loan for money. Yeah, right! It went straight into the trash.

At certain times in the past…way past…we have taken out a loan from one company or another. We sought them out, though. We didn’t find them through a mail solicitation.

It’s very seldom I see the mail, as he gets it from the box, and gets rid of it as soon as he walks in the house, because it’s junk. When I do get anything, it’s usually just my medications I get through the posts. Boring…

I wonder why these junk mail companies keep on sending out their mailings? Maybe someone somewhere responds, but it isn’t us.

Thanks for visiting? Peace ☮️

  1. When my father retired, he sent back every single piece of his junk mail in the postage paid envelope provided. He swore if we all did that, it would cease to exist. I’ve been told junk mail is what keeps the post going, so much as I hate to say it, it’s worth it!

    • That’s funny. Wonder if it stopped the companies from sending more junk mail? I kind of feel sorry for the mail persons who have to carry it all in their bag when they go house to house. Here our mailbox is on the curb & they just drive by it. The best I can say is that they have a job when so many people don’t. 🙂

      • Oh I see! That’s a very good idea. Now that you mentioned it, I have saved a few things like that to use, especially lettering, that I cut out. Sometimes I buy old used primary school text books, or magazines at the used book sales, to cut out parts of to use, too. 🙂
