Here we have this week’s SYW questions from Melanie.

What, in your opinion, is the point to life?

No idea. Just enjoy the beauty of nature, be kind to animals & people, try to live an honest life as best you can.

What was your most recent lie?  You don’t have to get really specific obviously.

I probably have said that some food tasted good, when it really wasn’t all that great.

What country do you consider the strangest?   (it’s all In fun folks, ALL countries may seem strange to outsiders)

They are all strange in their own way, if you aren’t used to their customs. That just makes them interesting.

What’s your funniest story involving a car?

There’s lots of weird stories about our cars, but this one I’ll never forget. It was our jinx car, an old 4 door Chevy Caprice (blue). We’d got it, and immediately had troubles with everything. I drove it to my work place and the people wanted to see our new ride, and as soon as one girl saw it she said, “That’s the jinx car!” Turns out some people they knew had just traded it in because of all the troubles they had with it, and now she recognized it as being a jinx. And it sure was for us, too.

What bother me the most was that to get this awful jinx car, we’d traded in our Mustang, which I loved.

I myself traded in the jinx car later on for a Camaro. I was happy again.

  1. I had a jinx car too. it was a volvo station wagon, and right off the lot it developed a “cough”..a sort of backfire but not really. Two blocks from home the water pump blew……..got that fixed then on the drive home from the mechanic, two tires blew…..only had one spare. so a tow to a tire dealer for another tire and a spare…then on the way home from the blasted tire dealer the transmission started slipping. We took it back to the dealer the next day, had them pay us for all the repairs we had to get and got full money back. I bought a dodge after that…from the dealer across the street. 480K miles later, the paint job was gone and the headliner was falling out but it was still going strong.

    • I don’t think back then they had any lemon law records on cars, but it sure would have helped to know a car’s history before we bought it. It was so long ago I can’t remember what all went wrong, but it seemed every week was some big repair we had to get done. Good riddance to that one! 🙂

  2. I’ve never heard of a jinx car, but it totally makes sense. Ours would have been the last car I had. Nothing but heartache with that car.

    • Sorry you’ve had experience with a jinx car, too. Buying a car is a big purchase so you expect it to work okay, with maybe a minor tune up here and there, at least for awhile. But from the get go, if there are huge repairs needed, that’s just not right. Jinx…and a pox on them, too! haha 🙂

  3. I’m sooo sorry!! I missed your lovely contribution to Share Your World this week. It’s just been a long difficult week (not an excuse, but an explanation). Thanks so much for Sharing Your World with us. I’ve had two or three ‘jinx’ cars myself. One of them was a high end (lemon all the same) Chrysler or Buick and my husband was SURE he’d made the deal of the Century. Turns out he got the Lemon of the Century instead…

    • I know it’s been a rough little while for you…no need for explanations, ever. ❤
Sorry you've had some jinx cars in the past. You always hope the car you get won't give troubles, but you anticipate a little bit of this and that needing done. But then there are those cars that from the first are just awful! After awhile it's just better to get another one and hope it works better.
