Today for the challenge we are looking and listening to offerings from the 1980s. Thanks, Bee, for all the fun prompt suggestions!

The 80s gave us so many great songs. I’ve spent most all morning going down memory lane just listening to a lot of my favorites. Actually trying to find one to post on here, but there are so many. Now I sound like a broken record that’s stuck on the same phrase…so many good ones.

Anyway, I’ve posted this one before, but just can’t help it. I love this song. Hope you enjoy it, too.

“Angel Eyes”, by The Jeff Healey Band, was released in 1989, from their album, “See The Light”. It was written by John Hiatt and Fred Koller, and is on the Arista label.

Girl, you’re looking fine tonight
And every guy has got you in his sight
What you’re doing with a clown like me
Is surely one of life’s little mysteries

So tonight I’ll ask the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?

Well, I’m the guy who never learned to dance
Never even got one second glance
Across a crowded room was close enough
I could look but I could never touch

So tonight I’ll ask, the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?

Don’t anyone wake me
If it’s just a dream
Cause she’s the best thing
Ever happened to me

You can look all you like
But this girl you see
She’s leavin’ here with me tonight

There’s just one more thing that I need to know
If this is love why does it scare me so?
It must be somethin’ only you can see
Cause girl I feel it when you look at me

So tonight I’ll ask the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?
Hey, hey, hey, yeah, awww

  1. I remember commented the last time you used this song that I was expecting “Pretty Little Angel Eyes!” I do like this song, and it was in my variety station’s rotation for a brief while a decade ago, but I rarely hear it anymore…

      • I know I’ve posted this one before, and do remember your comment from last time. Pretty Little Angel Eyes is a good one, too!
No problem with the word forms…It’s a wonder if I get them right at all, since I transpose the letters in a word all the time, or leave letters out. Lots of backspacing here for me. 🙂
