What’s wrong but sounds right?

What physical action or gesture do you find romantic?

What’s something you really resent paying for?

What’s your favorite romance movie?  A movie you may find romantic, even if that’s not the genre.  I’ve been watching a lot of those lately, loosely titled “romance movie” and found a surprising number of dramas, action and comedy among the hearts and flowers.

And of course we have our gratitude of the week question:

What were you uplifted by in the past week?

Okay, to me something that sounds right and nice and sweet, is to have someone bring me breakfast in bed. But, at least for me, it’s all wrong! I would never want to eat breakfast, or any other meal in bed. I’d feel all grungy, icky, and disheveled from being in the bed all night, I wouldn’t have clean teeth, and my hair would be a mess, and I wouldn’t have done my make-up. Blech! Then there’s the messy covers, the cat trying to sit on my lap, and how to prop myself up enough to eat, and not choke on the food. There would need to be a tray of some sort, which we don’t have, so I know I’d spill everything, which I do anyway all the time. It would be a big ol mess. Just no…

What do I find romantic? Well, not breakfast in bed, for sure. I do like when we spontaneously go to the book store, get a good coffee, and I get to browse around the shelves as long as I want. There also would be no sideways looks, comments or complaining about how much money I’d be spending on a bunch of books.

What do I resent paying for? Bills, I guess. I know we use the services they provide, such as utilities, and it’s convenient to use credit cards sometimes, but I still hate to pay for it all, and see our account getting lower and lower as the payments are taken out. Has to be done, though.

A romance movie? Can’t really think of any right now, as we hardly ever watch any movies. I’ve probably seen some in the past, though, and they’d have to be sweet and funny…a situation comedy or whatever they are called.

Gratitude for the week? That I got good treatment at the hospital, and all the nurses were very kind and helpful. And…that I got better and came home.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

  1. Totally agree on breakfast in bed. It always looks romantic in a movie, but ugh. I need to shower and brush my teeth before I’m ready for breakfast, plus also I don’t want food in bed. Crumbs! Cat!

    • Thanks, Paula! If it was a perfect world, everything would be elegant and neat, and a lovely breakfast in bed would be just the thing. haha That will never happen around here, though. 🙂

  2. I also agree – no breakfast in bed! Maybe coffee…I love to lounge in bed on Saturday mornings, but it would be nice to not have to get up to make coffee to complement my lounge… 🙂

    • That does sound good, to lounge around on a Saturday, sipping on hot coffee or even cocoa. I’ve never been able to stay in bed like that. When I wake up, I have to get up, most times around 4:30 to 5 in the morning.

  3. I like breakfast in bed, but mostly just coffee. I too enjoy when we browse bookstores with coffee. I am SO glad you had good care and got better 🙂

    • Thanks, Joey! It’s good to be back home. It always sounds lovely to have coffee and maybe some toast before you get up for the day. I need to go browsing the bookstores soon, too. It’s been a long time! 🙂

    • Oh my word! I never even thought of that…being served all meals in bed when I was stuck in the hospital! That’s so funny and just normal like that, even though at home I’d never want to do that. 🙂

  4. Oh my gosh, I TOTALLY agree about breakfast in bed! I forgot about that one when answering the questions but you’re right, it’s wrong in so many ways. I’ve never had it and have never once thought gee, I wish someone would destroy the kitchen then bring me food to eat where I lie down to sleep… 😆

    • haha! That’s exactly right, Laura! I know we see this happening on TV shows all the time, and the family does make a big ‘ol mess in the kitchen! 🙂 Not going to happen around here.

  5. Thanks for Sharing Your World. I used to fantasize about a romantic breakfast in bed…a tray with my favorite foods, a rosebud in a vase, mimosas to drink…but I have dogs. My dogs were ‘bed’ dogs…all small enough (mostly) to sleep on the bed, and that whole scenario? A disaster waiting to happen, because one would be trying to balance the tray while simultaneously keeping dogs from knocking it over in quest for food. Heh. Now as Laura points out, the person who might have brought me breakfast in bed would have destroyed my kitchen and expected me to clean it up. Yeah. I’ll take my breakfast on my desk thanks. Huny is too small to knock things over, although she does become annoying if things like sausage are on the menu… Thanks again! 🙂

    • Thanks, Melanie! Doesn’t it sound so sweet and lovely? Reality is nothing like that, what with our pets in the bed, who would be fighting over who gets a bite of the breakfast! Laura had a good point, too, about us having to then get up and clear away the mess in the kitchen!
      Fun questions! 🙂
