You see things and say ‘why?’ But I dream things that never were and say ‘why not?’ ~ George Bernard Shaw
This is a quote from George Bernard Shaw. (July 26, 1856-November 2, 1950) He was a Nobel-Prize and Oscar-winning Irish playwright, critic, and socialist.
I like this quote because I do feel people in general see the things, and happenings in their world, each in their own unique way. Some are satisfied with the surface appearance of what their life is like, or maybe ask a rhetorical ‘why’, but dig no deeper. Then there are others, who are not satisfied with the status quo, so let their curiosity lead them down many other pathways, to find out more.
I know I’m curious about lots of things, and want to know the usual answers to, who, what, where, when, and why. Looking for answers, especially when you go googling, can take a long time, because one thing you find, leads to another interesting thing. Curiosity is a good thing!

I agree – curiousity is generally a good thing. I have, however, encountered people at work that keep telling me to be “curious” when I am dealing with bullying and harassment. I really don’t need to be curious about why people are a$$holes – I just need them to stop. Other than that, however, I am always curious!
That is pretty weird…to be curious about people who are mean & rude? Why? The sooner you deal with them and cross them off your list, the better, I think.
I love finding out about things most of the time. It’s so easy now with google, even though you wonder if what it says is actually the whole truth about whatever. 🙂
Good points. I do enjoy curious people.
Same here, but not intrusively nosy ones toward me. If a person is curious about something they can ask, but I reserve the right to not answer! For general subjects it’s great to find out more by looking it up. 🙂
I agree wholeheartedly – I love that quote too. Curious is my ‘word’ for the year. I enjoyed reading your take on the prompt!!
Thanks, Shelley! It’s a really good quote. Very cool to have a certain word for the year. I like curious! 🙂
