Here are the questions for this week from Melanie, and my answers. Click the above link to find out how to join in, and see other entries, too.

Did you have to help out with chores when you were growing up?  If so, what were you assigned to do?

My sister and I had to help with a few chores, and the main one I remember is waxing the kitchen floor. We hated doing that. The floor wax smelled really good, but we had to get on hands and knees to smear the wax on, and then later take rags and buff it all off. You know…wax on – wax off! Later on we got an electric buffer machine which was fun to use, except it would go all over the place, as we couldn’t control it. To this day I cannot stand to do any kind of floor chores.

Have you ever researched your family tree?   What do you know about your family’s roots?

No, but I’d like to know more about our ancestors. I do have some handwritten family history notes from one side of the family, and some photos, but that’s about all.

What’s your cure for hiccups?

Hold my breath for a few seconds.

What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it?  Either figuratively or literally?

Old timey redneck sayings…my mister says them all the time. I told him to get some new ones, because I’ve heard the same old ones over & over too many times.

Share a gratitude or positive moment or experience from 2019 so far.

Very nice weather…we had an unusual 11 inch snow before Christmas, but since then it’s been nice, and I hope it stays that way.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

    • haha Thanks, Teagan! I guess it turned out shiny. It was just linoleum. I do remember we’d always be listening to the radio when we were waxing, so that part was good! 🙂

  1. Oh my the memories! We too had to wax floors by hand, when we lived in Germany. Two story home with all wood floors and wood stairs. We did manage to find fun by seeing who’s buffing rag could slide the farthest down the hallway. 😂 My brother and I got quite creative with the wax on/wax off techniques. Haha!

    • Thanks, Kelly!
That’s a lot of wood floors y’all had to wax! That sounds pretty fun, though, sliding around on the buffing rags! haha so funny! Must have been a real nice house. When we were in Germany we had a very small apt. tiny kitchen, tiny bathroom, and one other room in the middle that was living room/bedroom! Just cement tile floors or something like that. Thanks for sharing your memory! 🙂

      • Before our Base housing was ready we lived in the 2nd and 3rd floors of a German family. There were 4 of us kids and Mon and Dad so the ratio of size was the same, just more people. Lol Base housing was a different story…drab, concrete, cold. Lived on the 3rd floor and laundry room was in the basement…gated laundry and grocery days! We need to swap stories during our next visit (February!).

  2. Thanks for Sharing Your World! That waxing the floor business sounds difficult..and a professional machine for buffing the floor? My father was a janitor and that was one of his chores and sometimes he had trouble controlling that machine. It takes patience and skill, so my hat is off to YOU for doing so! 🙂

    • Thanks, Melanie!
Well, I don’t think it was a professional buffing machine, but was about the size of an upright vacuum cleaner. Still, for us kids it was kind of hard to hang onto. It was better than using rags though!
Thanks for the questions this week, as always! 🙂
