Just Jot It January – Master – Day 6

#JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 6th

Your prompt for JusJoJan 2019, January 6th is brought to you by Sadje. Click here to find her last post and say hi while you’re there! Sadje’s word for our prompt today is “master.” Use it anywhere in your post or make it the theme of your post. Enjoy!

I’m not sure I like the word ‘master’. To me it implies that someone rules over someone else. I don’t like it because it just seems wrong that someone should have that much power.

Anyway, the word is also used when speaking of the owner of a pet, too. That’s somewhat better, but still I don’t like it.

The only way I do like using it is if someone has become very proficient in their art or work, that they have mastered the techniques needed. My dad was a master plumber. He did plumbing as a career, and was certified as a master plumber.

It’s the same when you get your master’s degree in college. That’s a good thing that you’ve studied long and hard and earned one of the highest degrees.

When we were selling my parent’s house, the real estate person said they would not use the term ‘master bedroom’ in the descriptions of the house. They said it was no longer in fashion and not politically correct (PC) these days. I kind of agree, but other ways of saying the largest and best bedroom just doesn’t sound right..such as ‘owner’s’ suite, or just bedroom number one. It will probably always be referred to as the master bedroom in most places, though.

There you have it – my thoughts for this jot prompt ‘master’.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️
