It’s Monday, and time again for some new SYW questions from Melanie, and answers from me! Click the above link to find out how to join in this fun, weekly challenge. 🙂

Halloween is this week – Wednesday – so it’s appropriate that today’s SYW Questions have a Halloween-y ‘flavor’.

There are more questions than usual…so please choose the ones you’d like to answer; answer ALL of them if you’d like, or leave a comment saying that you prefer ‘normal’ questions.   Thanks!   🙂

Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.

A fish. It’s highly unlikely I’d run into a fish in the forest or in an abandoned building, but I have a fish phobia, and probably any fish in the area would somehow know this, and come find me, and swim through the air to get me! Shudder…my worst nightmare!

Share the creepiest thing that’s ever happened while you were alone.

Too many to list, starting with my grandma’s haunted house. But when I was alone? Probably our mirror levitating all by itself, and crashing to the floor. Here’s the true story of what happened!

What would you like your last words to be?

See ya later! That’s what I do say to all people and pets when they pass over. I’m sure we’ll see each other again someday in spirit form.

Do you believe in any ‘mythical’ monsters like chupacabras or shadow people?

Yes, most of them.

How long do you think you would last in a horror movie?

Maybe a long time, because I’ve seen so many of them, and can spot the pitfalls. Most horror film characters are less than smart, so they get done away with pretty quick.

Are you afraid of or find clowns creepy?

I don’t like them. I know they are just people in costume, but to me they are creepy. I had a trauma with one rodeo clown when I was little, and haven’t liked them ever since.

In the zombie apocalypse, what would be your weapon of choice?

My smart phone. There’s probably an app for getting rid of the Zombies, so I’d use it.

Have you ever had your tarot cards read?

No, but I do have a deck of tarot cards that a friend gave me.

Anyone know the reason behind putting candles in jack-o-lanterns?

To light the way, and to repel evil spirits.

Do you think putting special emphasis on certain holidays – like Halloween is ‘spooky’ for example — is a good idea or just more mindless entertainment for the masses?

Celebrating the holidays in whichever way you want, is just plain fun. Mindless or not, we all need to take a break from dreary ordinary days sometimes…just for fun.

Share a positive thought or message or something that’s inspired you this week.

  1. I have a story similar to your mirror story — our house in New Mexico was rather… how shall I put this? um… strange when it came to things like that. I bought my hubs three clay long neck vases in various sizes which he displayed on a tall stool in his bedroom (we sleep in separate rooms because he snores). The stool was next to his desk and near the wall. I walked into his room one day and one of the vases was broken. Like the entire top half was missing. It looked like something exploded out of it, but there were no broken pieces around it.

I asked him, “Dude, what happened to your vase?” and he was all, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” We looked around and all of the pieces to the vase were behind the stool and between the desk. Like, behind the other two vases… which were completely intact.

It couldn’t have been knocked over by one of the pets because that would have broken the other two, or there would have been pieces on or around the stool. Nope, it looked like someone picked up this vase, hit it with a hammer, and then put the bottom back on the stool. I know that Doug didn’t do that because he really liked those vases.

Weird things happened in that house… a lot of weird things.

    • Oooh, that is so interesting, Willow, and such a strange thing to happen like it did, with only the one vase broken. You’d think if something jostled the stool, then more than the one would have fallen. That this one was sitting upright, still, sure makes you wonder how! Your explanation sounds like it might have been done that way, but who or what did it, and why? Such a mystery. I’d love to hear more of your experiences there, too. Thanks so much for sharing your story! 🙂
