Here are the latest questions from Melanie for SYW. Thanks!

What’s the biggest screw up in the kitchen that you were responsible for?

Setting the oven/kitchen on fire while cooking cinnamon toast in the broiler, having to call the fire department,  having to get the stove replaced because it was totally toasted, and getting a write up in the Stars & Stripes newspaper about it.

What, in your opinion, makes people believe absurd conspiracy theories?

I don’t know why other people believe these crazy stories/rumors, but I just like hearing about them, and speculating about how much (if any) truth there is in them.

In 40 years what will people be nostalgic for?

The age they were 40 years ago.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Yes and no. A hot dog is a hot dog, and a sandwich is a sandwich, but they are pretty much the same thing. It’s just what you put in the middle of some bread, that you call it one thing or the other. A sandwich can have any kind of ingredients, but a hot dog…well, we know there will be a weenie involved, for sure.  🙂

And finally:

What wonderful thing happened to you this week that you’d like to share?  It can be a gratitude moment or something that just made you feel very happy at the time or made you laugh.

Anything my grand kids say makes me happy and it’s usually something funny that I can laugh about and be amazed at their way of thinking.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

  1. Your kitchen disaster was a whole lot worse than mine, although my daughter had a sort of an oven blow up incident with my stove, that required replacement of the stove. The newer one is much nicer, so other than the hit to the budget it was a win for me.

  2. Your ‘disaster” beats my rotten turkey hands down. How scary! And I loved the ‘weenie’ in the bun….yes I suppose, a hot dog IS a sandwich….. nice! Thanks for sharing! 😀

    • Thanks, Melanie!
I don’t know…rotten turkeys are pretty awful. I have a bad turkey story too, and thought about adding it here, but will maybe another time. It involved going to the hospital!
Good questions! I enjoy doing these every week. 🙂

  3. My kitchen fire wasn’t quite as exciting as yours. 🙂 I’m glad you came out if it unscathed other than a ruined stove.
