Cereal – Stream of Consciousness Saturday SOCS – Post

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 15/18

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “post.” Use it as a word, or find a word that uses it as a prefix. Have fun!

Today Linda has suggested the word, ‘post’ as our topic to write about. Thanks, Linda!

Post * Post * Post

Lots of ideas, but how to start?

I remember the cereal called, “Post Toasties”. I don’t think they still make them, but it was the only kind of corn flakes my dad would eat. I don’t know why, as the Kellogg’s corn flakes are just as good.

Now, this isn’t strictly SOC, because I was curious and looked stuff up. It seems a man by the name of C. W. Post was an inventor of many things, and one of them was the cereal. He founded a town named after him, Post, Texas, and it is 41 miles from where we live now. I’ve been there, before.

Post * Post * Post

I post stuff on here all the time. Either posting or publishing…same same?

Does anyone still use the Post Office much these days? We have a postman that delivers our junk mail, and bills every day, so I guess so. I don’t go to the actual post office much, as there are usually long lines you have to wait in to be able to do whatever it is you came in to do. We don’t mail packages there, as we use the UPS office that is very much closer to our house.

Oh…Post-Its sticky note pads. Yep, I use tons of those. They are so handy!

So, there’s a few things about ‘post’ that I thought of.

Now, I will close this post, as my eyes are bothering me the last few days. May be allergies, but they are red, itchy, watery, and burning, and feels like sand in them.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oof, sorry about your allergies! I was like that when I was young and sorta grew out of it, which is nice. My husband seems to be growing into his allergies :/
I’m a Kellogg’s girl. The only Post cereal I eat is Great Grains 🙂

    • Thanks, Shelley!
We still send birthday cards by mail, and I used to write long letters to people…even had a bunch of pen pals. That was always fun. Since the emails got so popular though, it’s changed. It would be nice to get something in the mailbox that wasn’t a bill, or junk.
Happy Saturday to you and your family, also! 🙂

  2. Post used to sponsor Saturday mornng cartoons, like Linus the Lionhearted, the spokeslion for Crispy Critters (“The one and only cereal that comes in the shape of animals!”). They were and still are based in Battle Creek, Michigan, just like Kellogg’s.

  3. I hope your allergies get better soon. I liked Post Toasties better than Corn Flakes too. They were thicker almost like Wheaties :). Post TX huh? Might need a road trip one of these days.

    • Thank you, Jill!
Interesting that they were thicker. I can’t remember, as it’s been so long since I ate them, or even the Kellogg’s kind of corn flakes. I usually just get Rice Chex or Crispix these days.
Post is still a pretty small town. I know they have a theater where they have stage plays every so often, and used to have a big flea market sometimes. I’ve mostly been through there on the way to somewhere else! Cool, if you came there to check it out someday. 🙂
