Who Ya Gonna Call? – Stream f Consciousness Saturday – SOCS – Call

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS August 4/18

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “call.” Use the word “call” or any word that contains those letters in that order. Have fun!

Who ya gonna call?

Ghost busters!

This is a fun song and a great movie, even if it is kind of silly.

What it reminds me of is taking my girls to the skating rink every Saturday morning. They took skating lessons for awhile, and this song played a lot over the loudspeakers. I heard it before I ever saw the movie.

“Ghostbusters Theme Song”, by Ray Parker, Jr., is from the movie, “Ghostbusters”, and is on the album, “Ghostbusters: Original Soundtrack Album”. It was released in 1983, and is on the Arista label. It was written by Ray Parker, Jr.

Well, anyway…I had to put that song on here because it’s the first thing I thought of for the prompt word, ‘call’.

My grand-daughter loves anything creepy and strange, and Halloween things, and loves to hunt for ghosts, too. Except this week she was all into Christmas and singing me songs, like the Partridge in a Pear Tree, with the 4 calling birds!

I’ve had several jobs of calling people on the phone…yes, the dreaded and hated telemarketers. I was one. Actually, those jobs were the most fun I’ve ever had at working. I had my share of cranky people, rude comments, and hang ups, but still, I liked it. And I really normally hate talking on the phone. My friends would call me and we’d talk and I’d enjoy it, but I was never one to initiate a call. Even now, it’s rare, except to call a business to see what time they open/close. Anything else, I get all flustered and can’t say it right, what I’m trying to get across. Probably the telemarketing job was easy, because we had a script we had to say every time, and then we could ad lib a bit. Also, the other employees were a fun bunch of people to work with, along with the employers of these many jobs I had.

Well, enough about this for now…

I’ll wish y’all a happy Saturday, with calls or no calls, ghosts or no ghosts…however you like it. 🙂

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️

  1. Kool story gurl…
I liked that movie as well… silly yes but good ol days…
loved the skating rink too…n ghost tooo… speaking of them we are getting ready to move back in our home n sell dads house just the front of the property n keep the back may build a metal home if we decide to sell our home a lil later on…

    • Thanks, Suzette!
We’d go skating at the Fair Park skating rink on the fair grounds when I was in Jr. High. Every Friday night. So much fun.
Big news from you, about the move! Hope all goes smooth, and y’all get settled in with no problems! 🙂

      • When they original came out, my brother in law raved about it. I didn’t really like it but it was a movie that grew on me and eventually I recognized what others saw in it. I like the ones with the girls because of the girls 🙂 Oh and Chris Hemsworth eye candy helped.

      • Maybe someday I’ll see the newer one. I do like the actresses that are starring in it. Mostly for the original, I just saw some of it here and there, and not a full sit down to watch. I liked the actors in that one, too. 🙂

  2. I guess Huey Lewis didn’t get a writing credit out of the settlement. He sued Ray Parker, Jr. over “Ghostbusters” because the music is similar to “I Want A New Drug,” which Huey released just before this song came out. I’ve got too much of a tin ear to really notice the similarities between the two songs, but supposedly it’s there!

  3. I did some cold calling as a moonlighting gig once, and I didn’t mind it, either. All jobs have their good and bad 🙂 Would I want to do it all day every day for years? No, but for a while, it’s easy money.
