Reminders -Stream of Consciousness Saturday – SOCS – Empty/Hollow

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 19/18

***

It’s Saturday, so it’s time for another SOCS, hosted by Linda G. Hill. Thanks, Linda!

Here’s the prompt: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “empty/hollow.” Use one, use both, entirely up to you. Enjoy!

Empty and hollow reminds me of this past Thursday and most of Friday. My computer went out, and had to be in the repair shop. I was feeling all empty and hollow because I couldn’t do my usual blogging on those days.

Empty and hollow reminds me of Halloween. That’s my favorite holiday, and sometimes we’d get a big pumpkin and hollow out the inside seeds until it was empty, making for a great jack-o-lantern.

Empty and hollow reminds me of the TV show, “Sleepy Hollow”. It was on a couple of years ago, and may have ran for a couple of seasons, but it was a really good show. I watched them all, discussed it with a friend, and we were both sad that they didn’t make any more episodes.

Empty and hollow reminds me of something my Dad wrote a long time ago. Going through old papers, from his own school days, I came across a little notebook. In it he had written a report (I think that’s what it was), on the short-story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Pretty cool!

Empty and hollow reminds me of finishing up my fan fiction story, “Two Souls: Into the Fire”. I loved writing it so much, that when the ending came, I felt all empty and hollow…and sad that it was done.

Empty and hollow reminds me of turning the last page on a book you’ve really enjoyed reading. I always wish it would go on some more. I don’t like being in between books to read. I have plenty on my TBR stacks, but still you’re feeling in the last book’s world, and it’s hard to get going on a brand new read, hoping it will be just as good.

Empty and hollow reminds me of waiting a whole week until the next SOCS prompt is revealed. 🙂

Until next time, wishing you a lovely weekend and week to come, filled with fun, laughter, good times, and relaxation, but not empty and hollow.

  1. I enjoyed reading Two Souls Into the Fire. I’m going to have to go back and read the beginning since I came in somewhere in the middle I think. Good use of empty/hollow!

    • Thanks so much, Janet! I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed reading my story. I’ll be re-posting it from the beginning, starting tomorrow. I appreciate that you told me you like it. … I’m always happily surprised at the prompts Linda chooses each week, and this today was a good one! 🙂

  2. I avoid that empty hallow feeling from finishing a book by having multiple books going at the same time and pick the genre depending on my mood. One very long book, I’ve been on for years. I’m slowing down even more as I near the end.

    • I know what you mean. There are a few shows that when the season is over, it is a let down feeling, and then it takes so long until new ones are aired! I do have some favorite stand-by books, that when I’m not in a mood for something new, I just re-read something I know I like. Thanks, Deborah! 🙂
