Welcome to the 2018 edition of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!

All through the month of April, the challenge asks us to blog every day (except Sundays), and to go through the alphabet A to Z, connecting our posts to the letter of each day.

My idea for this time, my 5th to participate, is to showcase a book or two each day, and provide a tiny bit of information about them. These will not be a full book review, but just saying what it is about, and if I liked the book or not.

These books are mostly books that I already have on my shelves, and have read, or are on my to be read stacks. There will be a very few of them that I don’t already own, or have read.

I will also post a quote each day that has something to say about books, or reading.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe see a book or a few that you might want to read, too.

“The Yadayada Prayer Group”, by Neta Jackson, is one I haven’t read yet. I’ve had it a long time, and it looks like a fun to read book, though. It says there are twelve women, from very different backgrounds, and life experiences, who go to a conference, and are assigned to the same prayer group. After getting to know each other, they realized they wanted to keep up their friendship, first by email, then in actual get-togethers.

“You Are Being Lied To – The Disinformation Guide to Media, Distortion, Historical Whitewashes and Cultural Myths”, by Russ Kick, is a hard and informative look at what we would now call ‘Fake News’. In the book they tell about the whitewashing and false facts, about all kinds of things, from politics, science, medical, religion, and every day kinds of news and beliefs. It’s astounding how many things we believe to be true, are just not, at least according to this book.

    • Sad but true. It’s impossible now, to believe anything you hear on the news. I think it’s just a distraction, so people will be thinking of whatever it is, while behind the scenes, much more serious issues are being covered up.

  1. The Media only puts up what’s colorful & if it’s not they make it that way & people believe that first before the truth sometimes. Me… I go looking for the truth many times… but hubby & I have stopped watching television for almost a year now & we just do the computer thing… we get enough of the world on there. Anyway, you love to read that’s good… I know many that do. Unfortunately, reading puts me to sleep.. Hmmm maybe that’s a good thing if I’m tired or want to be.. hehehe~ but I do read and I find a really great book I cannot put it down. I love Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. I remember when I finished… the story wasn’t over.. and I went whaaaaaa & my sister-in-law told me he’s not finished with Part II yet! grrrrrrrrrrr But now I have every book all 7… I’m collecting Harry Potter now too. Oh my sorry, I’m talking your ear off.. Have a great weekend! Nice to meet you! A2Z was really fun.. I can’t wait til’ next year! LOL

    • We aren’t news junkies here either. We’ll watch a bit of it, remark on how stupid it all is, and that’s about it. We tune in to the local news and weather, though. … Yes, I do like to read a lot of different things, but if it is interesting, it doesn’t make me sleepy, I just keep on reading! I’ve read a lot of Stephen King’s books, but never read Dark Tower. …No problem, say as much as you like in your comments! I like hearing everyone’s views on things. Hope your weekend has been fun, too. 🙂 A to Z is lots of fun and this was my 5th time to take on the challenge, and will probably have another go next year.
