A to Z Blog Challenge – Letter W

A to Z Blog Challenge – Letter W

Welcome to the 2018 edition of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!

All through the month of April, the challenge asks us to blog every day (except Sundays), and to go through the alphabet A to Z, connecting our posts to the letter of each day.

My idea for this time, my 5th to participate, is to showcase a book or two each day, and provide a tiny bit of information about them. These will not be a full book review, but just saying what it is about, and if I liked the book or not.

These books are mostly books that I already have on my shelves, and have read, or are on my to be read stacks. There will be a very few of them that I donโ€™t already own, or have read.

I will also post a quote each day that has something to say about books, or reading.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe see a book or a few that you might want to read, too.

“Without a Net”, by Michelle Kennedy, is her story of how she went from upper middle class, to homeless, in just a few years. At first she and her husband did all right, and they had three children. But, soon everything began to fall apart. After an accident with one of her kids, she’d had enough of their family’s steady decline, and she left her husband. He didn’t seem to care. From there, she struggled to keep her head above water, taking on small jobs, sleeping/living in her car, and keeping her little family together.

“The Woman Who Swallowed a Toothbrush”, by Rob Myers, M. D., is a collection of 51 strange and bizarre medical cases, taken from leading medical journals. Some are darkly humorous, and others are the result of underlying mental and physical abnormalities. As the author writes, most medical problems are mundane and routine, but occasionally a case will come up that is truly beyond belief. However, these cases in the book are true.
