A to Z Blog Challenge 2018 – Letter L

A to Z Blog Challenge 2018 – Letter L #AtoZChallenge 2018 L

Welcome to the 2018 edition of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!

All through the month of April, the challenge asks us to blog every day (except Sundays), and to go through the alphabet A to Z, connecting our posts to the letter of each day.

My idea for this time, my 5th to participate, is to showcase a book or two each day, and provide a tiny bit of information about them. These will not be a full book review, but just saying what it is about, and if I liked the book or not.

These books are mostly books that I already have on my shelves, and have read, or are on my to be read stacks. There will be a very few of them that I donโ€™t already own, or have read.

I will also post a quote each day that has something to say about books, or reading.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe see a book or a few that you might want to read, too.

“The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules”, by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg, is such a funny book, and has a story line I’d never come across before.

The main character, Martha, lives in a retirement home in Stockholm, Sweden. There have been some drastic changes in policy there, and she and her cronies are not happy. This begins her scheme of robbing a bank, and her friends are all for it, too. Their ultimate goal is to get sent to prison, where at least the accommodations seem better than the retirement home.

They try scheme after scheme, with hilarious results.

My daughter gave me this book for Christmas, and I loved it from the very first page.

“Letters From a Nut”, by Ted L. Nancy, is so interesting to read. The author writes letters to all kinds of businesses, not just to compliment them, or to complain, but just to see what kind of reaction he will get.

His letters are so funny, and weird, yet polite. I was laughing at his audacity, to actually write some of the things he mentions in the letters. Then, he gets responses back from the businesses, which are funny, too.

This book also got me thinking maybe I could do something similar, so I did. I wrote to all kinds of businesses. I didn’t write such bold letters as he did, but I did get back answers from them. Along with nice letters, I got coupons for free items, little trinkets, and brochures.

***sorry about the big purple flower on the photo of this book. The paper book cover had one of those sale stickers on it, and it was stuck on there so hard. I tried peeling it off, scraping it off, using glue remover stuff, and I wound up tearing a hole in the paper. This just looked awful, so…I stuck the flower over the hole. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mystery Box Chickens

Tomorrow the MB Chickens will open another book box. Titles will be starting with letter M.

Thanks for visiting! Peace โ˜ฎ๏ธ

    • haha! It’s a good one, and you’d probably get a kick out of reading it. My TBR list gets longer all the time, as I keep finding ones I want to read. ๐Ÿ™‚
