Coffee Break

Coffee Break

Saucered and blowed,

Saucered and blowed

Sit down, relax

Put down your load

Puckers and sips

‘Tis hot on your lips

Have some more

But watch out for drips

Strong and black or

Creamy and sweet

A cup of coffee can’t be beat

Saucered and blowed,

Saucered and blowed

Refreshment and rest has

Now been bestowed

note – saucered and  blowed refers to the practice of pouring a little bit of your hot coffee into a small saucer, blowing on it to cool it down, then sipping from the saucer.

  1. Ooooh💖 You make me long for a cup of steaming hot coffee! But that ll have to wait until morning 😉 Beautifully penned.

  2. “Saucered and blowed”! I’d not thought of the practice in years since I was a child watching my grandfather saucer and blow! Thanks for the memories!

  3. As with most everyone in the comments above, I find the “saucered and blowed” phrase quite fetching. I had an aunt who used to do this, but I had no idea it had a cute little name. I can’t wait until morning to give it a run, just to say that I’ve done it… 😉

    • It is a fun phrase to say, isn’t it! I can’t say that I’ve tried it, though. We use coffee mugs, with no saucers, but at least I should try it. If you did, hope it worked out okay! 🙂
