Landslide – Song Lyric Sunday

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/19/17

***

Today, for Song Lyric Sunday, Helen has asked us about songs about growing older. Thanks, Helen! This prompt comes at the right time for me, as it is my birthday week, and I’m growing older, as we all do. 🙂

“Landslide”, by the Dixie Chicks, was released from their album, “Home”, in 2002. This was their cover of the song, “Landslide”, by Fleetwood Mac, which was written by Stevie Nicks, in 1975.

[Verse 1]
I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

[Chorus]
Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older, too
Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older, too

I’m getting older, too

[Verse 2]
So, take this love and take it down
Yeah, and if you climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide brought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, maybe
Well, maybe
Well, maybe
Landslide brought me down

    • I’m partial to the Dixie Chicks any time, and like their’s best, too. It does make you think about how time keeps rolling on. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Kerry! 🙂

  1. I think I’ve come across this meme elsewhere and I’d certainly like to participate but the weekend is my time to spend with DH. It’s quite possible I could incorporate it with Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me but I’m not going to hold my breath on this one at least not anytime soon. I will bookmark the host site so that I can find my way to her site for a future link-up. That being said, I think I would’ve chosen Huey Lewis and the News, “Hip to be Square” for my growing old lyrics. 😉

    • Thanks, Cathy! It is a fun challenge, so just jump in whenever you can. You sure could combine it with your regular Monday posts! I like your choice for the prompt. Huey Lewis and the News have lots of great songs. 🙂
