Mushroom – Daily Post & NanoPoblano – Day 17

Mushroom – Daily Post & NanoPoblano – Day 17

Today is a combo of challenges – the NanoPoblano, and the Daily Post. The prompt word for the DP is mushroom.

Is this a mushroom or a toadstool? I have no idea, but we found it growing in our yard a long time ago.

Some say they are the same thing, but I did read that they are not the same. In either case, I wouldn’t recommend you eating a random yard ‘shroom. You never know what might happen. You could be fine with a tasty meal with mushrooms, you could be in for a wild, halucinogenic trip, or you could die. It’s not worth taking a chance.

I like mushrooms, at least the ones I buy at the store, or order in a restaurant. They are good cooked, and also raw. Here’s how I cook them: rinse a little to get the dirt off, slice, put in pan with squeezed lemon juice, and butter, then cover and simmer on very low heat for a little while (they will shrink). I use mushrooms in recipes and on pizza, too.

Here’s a few I grabbed out of a fairy garden I made. These ones are cute. I think I read that real red ones with white spots are deadly, though.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for today about mushrooms. 🙂

Thanks for visiting! Peace }i{

  1. I used to have a mushroom “kitchen” with mushroom shaped cannisters, glasses with painted mushrooms, plates, etc. Even had the crockpot! Now, I have a “calm” kitchen…everything is retro and the cannisters are in the shape of a train!

    • Your mushroom themed kitchen sounds like it was pretty, and so does your retro one. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything that ever matched in the kitchen or even the house! 🙂
