Ooh, you make me live

Whatever this world can give to me
It’s you, you’re all I see
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live
Oh, you’re the best friend
That I ever had
I’ve been with you such a long time
You’re my sunshine
And I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
(Ooh) Oh, you’re my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Ooh, I’ve been wandering round
But I still come back to you
(still come back to you)
In rain or shine
You’ve stood by me girl
I’m happy at home (happy at home)
You’re my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Whenever this world is cruel to me
I got you, to help me forgive – oo oo ooh
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live
Oh, you’re the first one
When things turn out bad
You know I’ll never be lonely
You’re my only one
And I love the thing
I really love the things that you do
Oh, you’re my best friend
Oh, ooh, you make me live
I’m happy (happy at home)
You’re my best friend
Oh, oh, you’re my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Oo oo ooh
You, you’re my best friend

“Friendship”, by Cole Porter, was a highlight song, featured in the 1939 Broadway musical, “Du Barry Was a Lady”.  Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter. The musical was later made into a Technicolor film, in 1943.

This clip is from the “I Love Lucy” television show, where Lucy and Ethel are performing the song. Do you remember this episode? It seems that both ladies wore the same dress to a performance, and were very annoyed with each other, so they started ripping pieces off each other’s dresses. 🙂

Lyrics to Friendship

If you’re ever in a jam, here I am.
If you’re ever in a mess, S.O.S.
If you’re so happy, you land in jail. I’m your bail.

It’s friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are soon forgot, ours will still be hot.
Da da da da da da dig dig dig.
If you’re ever down a well, ring my bell.
If you’re ever up a tree, just phone to me.
If you ever loose your teeth when you’re out to dine, borrow mine.
It’s friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are soon forgeet, ours will still be great.
Loddle doddle chuck chuck chaa.
If they ever black you’re eyes, put me wise.
If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
And if they ever put a bullet through your brain, Ill complain.
It’s friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are soon forgit, ours will still be it.
Ah loddle doddle hip hap hap.
If you ever loose your mind, I’ll be kind.
And if you ever loose your shirt, I’ll be hurt.
If you’re ever in a mill and get sawed in half, I won’t laugh.
It’s friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are are up the crick, ours will still be slick.
Ah loddle doddle woof woof woof, hep hep hep, chopp chop chop, dig dig dig.
Good evening friends.

    • I’m happy you enjoyed watching the I Love Lucy video. That’s one of my all time favorite shows, and no matter how many times I’ve seen an episode, I still laugh. 🙂

  1. I have always loved that Queen song! 🙂

And you can’t go wrong with Lucy and Ethel. They are pure entertainment no matter what they are doing.
