Paolo passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge, very late at night, on May 25, 2017. He was 20 years old.

Paolo appeared on my daughter’s apartment door step, when he was just a tiny kitten. This was in 1997. He lived quite a while with her, until she had to move away for college. He came to stay here with us, then. She would take him for rides in the ‘moving house’, which is what she called the car, and he loved riding.

Over the years he had a lot of nick-names. His name is Sao Paolo, after the city in Brazil, which my daughter had just came home from when she found Paolo. Other names we’d call him, were Paolo Jones, P. J. Jazzy Jones, and King of 3s. He was a very loving kitty, and loved to ‘talk’ to us. He had lots of funny quirks, too. He loved his ‘mice water’, which was actually just ice water in his bowl. I’d ask him did he want some ice water, which sounded like some mice water. He would wait to drink until the ice cubes were in there. He also loved whipped cream, and special cat milk, formulated for cats to drink.

He had a favorite toy. It was called ‘Stubbins’. This was a cat toy stick which had a long, fluffy feather on the end, but the feather had finally wore out, so it was just the stub of it on there…Stubbins. He’d chase that toy around in circles. We laughed and said he was about to turn into butter. He also liked his strings. These were very long cording type strings, on a silver ring. Someone had started a macrame project with them, and just left it at the house, not wanting it any more, so it became Paolo’s.

Paolo was very good at catching mice and bugs. I once saw him jump straight up from the floor to the top of the door frame, just to catch a moth. Another time I sat down and mentioned to him, very calmly, that I’d seen a mouse peek out from under the refrigerator, and he should go check it out. So, he immediately got off the couch and went into the kitchen. I heard a small scuffle, then he comes back holding the mouse he’d just caught. Good kitty!

After 20 years of being a part of our family, Paolo will be missed so much. He was loved.

I don’t know your beliefs, but I believe we will see our beloved pets again someday. In my mind’s vision, I saw all our other pets who have gone across the bridge, come gathering around to welcome Paolo. He will not be alone or lonely there.

I never say good-bye, just …see you later. ❤

***Paolo will be cremated, and his cremains will be interred next to our other kitties, Gretchen, and Weena. A graveside service will be held next week. Left to miss Paolo is his kitty friend, Cricket.

❤ ❤ ❤

Thanks for visiting! Peace }i{

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a pet, especially one who’s been in your life for a long time.
