51 WEEKS/51 SONGS FROM the PAST

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 14: Doris Day – Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be)

***

Here’s a song I always liked, and I liked it even more after this certain day, which is a memory hard to forget, not that I’d want to forget. We were living in Killeen, Tx at the time, and there was a radio station we always listened to, though now, I can’t remember which one. It may have been a “JackFM” station. Anyway, they played a lot of good songs every day, but then we found out something happened, and the station would be changing formats. They’d be broadcasting a completely different kind of playlist of songs, which we didn’t care for. I think there was a big brouhaha about it all with the station’s personnel, which led to this one day. They started playing this song, and played it over and over all day long. It was a mystery at first, why they were doing this, and then we found out. No one was happy about it. So, that’s the memory of this song, hearing it all day long. πŸ™‚

“Hit the Road Jack”, by Ray Charles, with the Raelettes vocalist, Margie Hendricks, was released in 1961, as a single, on the label ABC-Paramount. It was written by Percy Mayfield.

    • Thanks, Hugh! Seems like pretty much any song will bring back a memory of something. Funny how that works, but I like it! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for presenting this challenge. πŸ™‚
