WORLD UFO DAY

Today, July 2nd, is designated as World UFO Day. It is the date of the supposed UFO crash in 1947, near Roswell, New Mexico. Every year Roswell hosts a UFO Festival at this time of year, with all kinds of fun things to do and see. There is the UFO museum, with lots of information about the crash landing, interactive scenes you can take photos of yourself in, a gift shop, and speakers and authors. Outside, there are street dances, costume contests, and a parade of just about anything UFO related.

We went to this one year, and it was so much fun. If you get a chance, you should plan to go. In the meantime, you can go out tonight and search the skies for UFOs! You never know what you’ll see. I do expect to see fireworks, though, as the 4th of July is in a couple of days. People around here have already been shooting/popping their fireworks at night.

Have a great 4th of July weekend, everyone!

Here’s a couple of photos of our trip to Roswell, NM, and the UFO Festival a few years ago. 🙂

    • New Mexico is a very interesting state with so many things to see and do, even though you think of it as big empty spaces. Wish you could have visited Roswell, though. We were there a lot, as my aunt, uncle, and cousins lived in Roswell. In fact, my uncle was a sheriff there when the UFO crash happened in 1947. I’ve heard stories…and he was advised to not speak of it. Wow, huh?

    • I know you would love seeing all the festival stuff, but yeah, it is sooo hot in July! I do want to go again, though. Guess TX summer weather isn’t much different. haha!

      • It’s okay, there are a great many sights I’d like to see and probably never will, because HOT. lol

      • Oh, I know! We don’t go many places these days, any more. Here if it isn’t done before noon, just forget about going outside. Heat will sure drain your energy! Hope your 4th of July celebrations are lots of fun! Our neighbors have been popping fireworks all week. We don’t have any plans though.
