The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 26/16

All I’ve been thinking about since seeing the topic for today – Real – is the song by Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Over and over in my head, I’ve been singing it…a persistent ear-worm! I like the song, so it’s ok. ~ …Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality…” 🙂

So, some other thoughts about ‘real’ are these:

  1. One of my favorite quotes is by Edgar Allan Poe – “…All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”

That really gets me thinking. What if it’s true? What if this real life we think we are living at the present moment, is not really real? What if it is just a dream we are having, our soul is having, as our ‘real’ self is living elsewhere…asleep? I love thinking about this stuff!

2. The word ‘realty’ as in selling houses? I can’t ever get it right. Is it – real-T, or re-la-ty? Well, I’m sure it is the first one, but always seem to pronounce it the second way.

3. So, when we type our text messages, type our thoughts on our blogs, to people, we sometimes say or feel it is not really real. I mean, the people we are communicating with, we never actually see, or even know, firsthand, in person, face to face. So, we say things, and then qualify some statements as being ‘in real life’ or IRL

4. When the weather guy/gal on TV talk about temperatures, either hot or cold, sometimes they mention the ‘real feel’. The actual temperature will be one thing, but it ‘feels’ like hotter or colder, according to the wind, or humidity. I don’t like the term, ‘real feel’. It sounds silly, to me. And, then that’s silly, because I do like words that rhyme. Go figure!

Well, as they say… (and who are ‘they’?) … it’s been real… and that’s it for this post today! 🙂

Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for visiting! Peace }I{

  1. The only argument I have against the notion of us living a dream is how do you account for pain and injury….just a thought…..liked your post gave me stuff to think about…
