OCTPOWRIMO – POEMS – DAY # 17 – HAUNTED HOUSEIMG_20150928_151453

I’m not really sure what today’s theme was…something about dancing? Anyway, I really wanted to try the one I skipped yesterday…the Paradelle … which was a bit difficult to get the form right, and took some time to do. I’m getting into the Halloween mood…all things spooky around here, anyway. 🙂

HAUNTED HOUSE

Behold the haunted house

Behold the haunted house

Twisted black branches scrape frosty windows

Twisted black branches scrape frosty windows

Haunted branches scrape

Twisted black house, the frosty windows behold

*

Shutters flap in Autumn winds

Shutters flap in Autumn winds

Dry leaves go skittering by

Dry leaves go skittering by

Shutters in Autumn go skittering

Dry winds flap by leaves

*

Ghosts moan while chains rattle

Ghosts moan while chains rattle

Do you dare enter tonight

Do you dare enter tonight

Do you moan while Ghosts rattle chains

Tonight dare enter

*

Behold, frosty Ghosts, in chains, go skittering by windows

The twisted winds dare scrape you dry

Tonight black Autumn leaves rattle haunted branches

Do enter house, while shutters flap…moan

A bit of explanation about the pictures… This house is very old, and was moved from it’s original location. It is on the property of the Ranching Heritage Center, here in town. All types of original houses are here, to show the development of this area. This is one of the more modern ones. I’ve heard that it is haunted. People say that at certain times, you can see a lady (ghost?) standing at the upper windows. No one is allowed inside, but I love peering through the windows, as the houses are furnished with items from the era they were taken from.  The photo where I’m looking in…I was outside the house, pointing the camera at a mirrored dresser that was inside, catching my reflection.

      • How delightful … I’m so glad you had fun writing your Paradelle … and as I like spooky stories, but am not good at writing them, I hope to see some more over to your place 😉
